George Brand Trousers

I think this is great information provided initially by thunderw21, and an easy thing to look for for a beginner like me. I thought I would provide an update on what was available now in 2010 at my local Walmart in the midwest. George trousers are still being carried, but it looks like not in the patterns shown earlier in the thread. There is a black with gray pinstripe, but these without pleats or cuffs. There is available, in a tan color called Walnut, a nice pair still with the pleats and cuffs. On my pair these were 9 3/4" across at the cuff, so still seem to have the vintage cut. They are now 55% polyester and 45% Repreve polyester (whatever that is) which I guess makes them all polyester unfortunately. They feel soft and nice to wear, and have a good appearance, but seem prone to static and not draping well as a result after a while.

I sell fabric to george@ asda ,can assure you that ,aside from primark, there is no cheaper purchaser of fabric in the country.The fabric must however, pass ludicrously stringent test standards,as far as the ethical and moral status of their garment factories goes also pretty tight.All the major players are now becoming terrified of bad press and factories,including the fabric mills are continually inspected.And fail too!
