The ruins of the golden era.
My intention for this thread is to find the most pictures showing Gary Cooper's suits. The reason, Cooper is a style icon and hopefully this can serve as an model for any man trying to imitate his style or looking for inspiration.

According to IMDB Cooper is listed at 6'3", weighed maybe 200lbs. Looks like he had an slender/ athletic build.

I'm a huge huge fan of Gary Cooper. He rolled into Hollywood some time around 1925 with his good buddy Walter Brennan. I believe they had a very cute scene together in "The Westerner" (1940).
I think we remember him more for his great roles, than as a style icon, which he of course was.
Just think: "High Noon", "Friendly Persuasion", "Mr. Deeds", "A Farewell to Arms", "The Wreck of the Mary Deare", "Pride of the Yankees", "Love in the Afternoon". So many others, such a great variety.
The man lived the life, too. He had many notches on his pistol grip.

He excelled in portraying a laid back, almost rustic, style that, while not casual, was far from formal. Very unique look, very distinctive.

Notice that most of the notched lapels shown are sharp and tightly angled, much like '70s lapels. Must have been his personal preference:

Cool double breast pockets, too.

While being voracious for food and drink, without gaining an ounce.
