I was just wondering about the Loungers out there that visit the growing Casino venues. Are you a gambler by nature or shun all types of gaming? Do you indulge, what is your favorite thing to play?

Before the 60's, most Casinos were dominated by the "Table Games" such as Craps, Blackjack, Baccharat, Roulette, and the slot machines were held as a lesser degree of entertainment. Now, slots and video poker seems to have eclipsed the table games. Any body like the Sports Book?

I have yet to try Poker, Baccharat, or Blackjack at the Casino but have played Craps almost every visit. I find the slots to be dissapointing or boring.

I also have never hit any type of Jackpot for mare than maybe $70 from any machine. Somebody has to keep those lights on!

I shun gambling, for no other reason than I feel it quite likely I could develop an addiction to it.

snake eyes!

I gamble!!!!! but not as much as I used to-

I prefer blackjack or poker- when I was in college, I wasn't above chatting up the casino floor cleaning ladies and cocktail waitresses to get into on what slot machines were being used a lot and hadn't paid out.
sometimes their little "tips" paid off.

But by far the best I've ever done is with blackjack, single deck, high limit table.
the most I've won in one day is $26,000 (4 blackjacks in a row, double downs, split cards, probably one of the biggest rushes of my life- one of those things, that never ever happens in a million years-
and no- the casino was *not* happy when I actually walked away with the money- instead of giving it all back- the little guy *does* win sometimes!

Poker is fun too- I watch it on TV all the time. I think its a bit of a guilty pleasure- I just like all the "characters."

Perhaps all the Fedora Loungers should have a Vegas or Atlantic City gambling/dining exposition. I'm due for another Vegas trip!!

I've invested all my income in my previously mentioned vintage reproduction shoe company- so I'll play the nickel slots!

I had a friend that went off the deep end and back with gambling and swears he would rather of been on heroin than addicted to gambling.

I guess I am not a risk taker when it comes to money. Maybe just a little too frugal. I have never been able to even throw a nickle in a slot machine without thinking I was ripped off. I don't get it at all. I give you money for the chance of maybe, possibly, you give me back no where near what I gave you since I sat down? I'd rather do heroin. At least that is a sure thing. lol

The truth is out.

I have played and enjoyed it. Probably spent a total of $20, over several hours and a few cities. My husband is a compulsive gambler and has stolen from my dad and me more than I made in 2 years working three jobs. Last time I went to Las Vegas, in January, i didn't even play. The joint admitted they didn't have the cash on hand to pay out "in case anyone won."

I love poker (5 card stud and draw, and also Texas Hold'em). Also play Blackjack occasionally and also bet on the horses but only for the Melbourne Cup.

I used to bet on football (soccer) during undergraduate to make money for drink and smokes on the weekend (all the vices in one go! Well, at least i didn't gamble to make money to pay for women . . . well, if you don't count buying them drinks . . . I'll get me coat)

It was easy. 3-1 odds on picking 6 winners from all the British leagues. 5 pound bet, pay your tax beforehand nets you 20 pound return. That's the extent of my "life of vice". That's my story and i'm sticking to it.

My mother loves slot machines, and I've gone to the casino with her to keep her out of trouble -- won a few dollars myself, but not enough to make it worthwhile. She was also fond of poker, and used to host weekly neighborhood games in our kitchen. When I was six years old, she taught me to play five card draw, and I got to where I was pretty good at it, but I don't know how to play the modern casino-type game.

The only gambling I do regularly is the lottery -- closest thing I have to a retirement fund.

No gambling for me.

I absolutely loathe Atlantic City. The best way I can describe it is a slum with a tacky, gaudy overcoat on. I usually like tacky and gaudy, but AC is just too much even for me.

I avoid it at all costs and I never, ever enjoy going. I'd rather save that money and spend it on a Photoplay or something useful -- not add to their slum gloss!

I gamble some. At the casino I mostly play blackjack. I think anyway your odds are the best at that game. With friends I play poker. It's easy to let that get away from you so I don't frequent them. I suppose that's part of the reason why I don't play golf. I don't need another vice.

No Gambling

Not for me. My backyard here is the Casino with all their billboard lighted up to attract people but I was never even tempted. Too many robbings and suicides going on there. I don't want to be one of the statistics. Besides I am abundantly blessed and have my every needs met. Sometimes I would like to help out my less fortunate relatives and that's the only time I get tempted to buy lottery tickets: so I could help the people I want to help. I might get some helping for myself too if it's large enough. :D

Nearby from me is Charles Town, WV, with it's huge horse track and slots casino. I'll go along with a friend once in a while. I don't play, but find more entertainment watching other people. I'm absolutley fascinated as they sit and press those little buttons for long periods of time...lots of elderly women.

That description paints a vivid picture of Las Vegas also. Not even the celebrity chef restaurants and overpriced shops can hide the true Vegas. It fascinates me that a lot of people think these gambling meccas are the place to go on vacation.

I consider Las Vegas to be a great place for time off. The areas around downtown and North Vegas are not the most wonderful, but the whole city is pretty new in the surrounds, so it is not the sqeazy place you might think.

They have great museums, some really cool antique stores, some really great malls, and it's close to the mountains for sking in the winter (Mt Charleston.) They have the largest inland diving community in the US. It is really pretty cool, you could spend a week there and never gamble yet be thoroughly entertained by amazing stuff. Atlantic City is a very poor imitation of Las Vegas, actually, it is no comparison.
