Oops! Forgot Skyrim!
One of the best! I often have trouble deciding whether I like it or Fable better. Skyrim has a bigger world, more stuff, etc. but I have fond memories of Fable because it was the first game I ever played that I was so immersed in I forgot where I was for hours at a time.

In the realm of gaming, I'm the curmudgeon that thinks things haven't been the same since they went 3D. I've relegated myself to indie homages to the 70s, 80s and early 90s. Jeff Minter is a favorite developer of mine, and I'm a beta tester for P1XL, who make games for the Commodore 64 and port them to iOS. Probably my favorites. Then there's Shaun Inman, the hipster of indie game development, making clever faux NES games. They're the holy trinity of retro gaming.

Interesting thread. I found it doing an advanced search on another topic completely!

Flight Sims:
"Their Finest Hour" -
"Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe"
"Aces Over Europe"
"Aces Over the Pacific"
"Jane's European Air War"
"Microsoft's Air Combat Simulator"
"Red Baron"
"Wings of Glory"
"IL2 Sturmovik" - In ALL it's iterations and I still fly it today online with the 99th Pursuit Squadron - Redtails.

Naval Simulations:
"Aces of the Deep"
"SSI's - Fighting Steel Series"
The "Silent Hunter" Franchise.

Space Sci/Fi
"Wing Commander" Franchise
"Crimson Skies"
"Dune" various variants
"Homeworld"
"Darkstar One"
"Descent"
"Privateer"

First Person Shooters:
"Doom"
"Castle Wolfenstein"
"Call of Duty"
"Far Cry"
"CoD - Modern Warfare".

Just a listing off the top of my head. I know I missed some.

No longer play now but when my son was young:
On the Playstation

Medal of Honour
Dino Crisis
Resident Evil
Driver
Nagano Winter Olympics
Superbike 2000

On the PC

B17 Flying Fortress

In Nagano my son could never beat me in Downhill skiing, whenever he beat me, I returned to beat him by 0.001 second. The Dads the champion:D

B17, you could fly a mission in real time or skip to the action. If your pilot was injured you had to put the best man in his place. Take the radio operator out of his position to pilot the craft then find another radio operator without compromising the mission.
A tough game.

Superbike 2000. Thought I would be good at this being a biker. No chance, got my arse whipped by the 10 year old non biker.
Resident Evil, ok but took me forever. resident Evil Survivor was a bit better but took me 3 hrs to finish it. Dino Crisis was basically resident Evil but with dinosaurs rather than zombies.

Great days. The boys all grown up now but he still plays even though I don't.

Anyone going to jump on the next gen consoles (PS4 XboxOne)..?

I've owned a 360 this gen, but am going to pre-order a PS4 this time, as the exclusive titles on the Sony platform seem a little more creative... plus Sony seem more centred on gaming, rather than a media centre concept.

Been a gamer since the 70's with an early 'pong' console, then moving on into PC gaming with a Dragon32, a Spectrum 48K and an AtariST... then I bought my first Windows PC in 1999.

Some favourite games in recent years has been.

Oblivion & Skyrim - the GTA's - Wolfenstein's - Quake's ---- Crysis 1-3 - Flight SimX - Red Dead Redemption - Max Payne - Alan Wake - Bioshock, Forza 3&4, Unreal Tournament and the WWII COD's to name a few.

Don't have the time to get too involved these days, but I still like to keep my hand in.
