This may already be covered, but i'm trying to save my weak eyes the strain of research.
Just saw on Etsy...
A hat labeled G. B. Borsalino di Lazzaro & C. (not fu Lazzaro) Made in Canada under license.
I have not heard of these before. Are they the same time period of the originals, or the later Borsalino-made hats?

It has been on there for quite a while. Not the same time period as the originals and a bit odd that they changed it to "di Lazzaro". The ones Borsalino did themselves in the later time period at least have the "fu Lazzaro" branding.

Doesn't make sense to me regarding G.B. Borsalino Fu Lazzaro & C. <1936. Do you have a link?

Thanks. I thought I may have seen something about it years ago, just wasn't remembering the details. I thought the di for fu switch was odd too. Maybe fu is an i sult to Canadians? Come to think of it, it kinda is insulting... :)

Happy to assist.;) If the fu was the issue for the Canadians they shouldnt have gone for di in stead, which is no picnic:)

I wondered too, but I know so little I didn’t comment. The shape of the crowns sure is appealing.
Brent they are original and some of the best example I see in my life. They seems brand new or very little used.
About the brim it is important to know the measurements, but if they are around 2 inches or a little more they are the "original"
All the best if you will buy them

Thanks, Daniele. They’re too small for me, but if someone here wants them I’d be glad to assist.

Fabulous hats, Brent and the real deal, I think. Garrett has one with that liner. I am kind of relieved they're not my size though at that price!

Judging from their other items for sale, I think they are just testing the waters. These are the only hats they have and nothing else they are selling is more than $40. If they are still around in a few weeks I’ll throw them an offer, but I won’t go very high.

Fingers crossed: you might get lucky. If only for the history of them worth saving (but just not at the asking price).

Yesterday during a typical online-hat-trawl I discovered these old Borsalinos a half hour away. I immediately wrote Stefan asking "Help! ..What's the story?" .. While waiting for a reply I fired up the FL search engine, found this thread AND exact same pictures I'd just sent Stefan! I got impression no one was imminently moving on them and they were very local so I put in an offer.
I bit hard too. No more hats for this guy for awhile. Fortunately the gray is my size, the black is too small. I feel fine about purchase as both hats are dead mint, un-bashed and apparently unworn. Seller relayed to me in 1916 her Great Grandfather brought them over from Italy, had some pictures taken before his wife stored them away, where they've been since. First picture is how they were stored (I suspect tissue paper is original packaging from factory) This made me smile as it reminded me of my Italian Grandmother as this is exactly something she would have done .. probably at the same time she was saying "EAT!"

Felt is just incredible on both hats. Brim 1 7/8" Crown around 5 1/4"
Both hats take any bash dry. Black hat's brim slightly stiffer than gray's.
Liner and sweatband are identical on both hats. Enjoy Pictures!

Good for you! Those hats needed a good caretaker.

Thanks, Brent!
Actually I feel like I've got Big Shoes to fill in that regard! Their previous caretaker knew what they were doing ; ) I just don't want to be the guy to lose a size tag or bust a seam.
