WWII-Era California Sportwear Two-Tone Half Belt Leather Jacket - 825 shipped via USPS priority in the continental U.S.
Brown & Grey Goatskin / Wool Lined / Large
Exceptional original WWII-era two-tone half belt leather jacket, produced in a striking brown and grey goatskin leather combination.
Although the original label is no longer present, this jacket is confidently attributable to California Sportwear based on its construction and identifying features, including the distinctive paneled back, cinch-style side adjusters, and the unique adjustable flippable cuff configuration characteristic of the maker’s WWII-period jackets.
This was clearly a top-tier jacket when new. The use of goatskin leather—a premium choice during the period for its durability, flexibility, and resistance to wear—paired with a full wool lining, places this well above standard civilian leather jackets of the time.
The jacket features a beautiful pocket configuration:
- Two vertical zip chest pockets
- Two lower flap pockets
Additional construction details include:
- Original WWII-era Conmar Talon zipper
- Original brown Cardozo buttons and chest pocket pulls, all present
- Adjustable half belt with original hardware
- Paneled back construction
- Adjustable flippable cuffs, a distinctive California Sportswear detail
- Clean, well-shaped leather collar with excellent definition
The interior retains its original wool lining, featuring a bold, period-correct plaid in brown, grey, and cream tones. The lining is in excellent condition with no tears, holes, or thinning.
This example is a rare larger, wearable size, increasingly difficult to find in WWII-era half belt jackets, particularly in two-tone constructions with original wool lining.
Measurements (approximate, see photos)

Condition
Nice condition for its age. The goatskin remains supple, strong, and structurally sound with minor surface wear and small blemishes consistent with careful use. No major stains, no cracking, no rot.
There are three smaller seam separations I've spotted - at the collar bend, one to two loose stitches at the right shoulder seam, and a few stitches undone at the left armpit area on the first line of defense — overall these areas are presently stable as is, wearability is not greatly affected. Could potential use some touch up work with further use.
As with all true vintage garments, minor wear and signs of age should be expected.
