This was acquired from a veteran who served in the Navy during (or immediately after) WWII. It is in superb condition and was clearly well-stored. Beyond the general wear typical of its age, and some slight stiffness, there are really no issues to speak of. Perhaps some slight mustiness in the interior, but nothing of real concern. The strap and connecting harness have long since degraded. Hit it with a dose of Pecard's and add a strap, and you've got yourself a functional bag for use or display.
Not being an expert on dating these bags, I can't confirm exactly when it was produced, but the styling is consistent with postal bags of the 1940s. Finding any vintage postal bag in this condition is tough enough, but one with U.S. Navy markings is exceedingly rare.
Price is $475 plus shipping/fees.
