Up for sale is a beautiful Rainbow Country Ponyboy jacket in tobacco brown Shinki horsehide.
This jacket is from top tier jacket company Rainbow Country. Supposedly the house brand of Freewheelers and co., RC makes some really nice pieces. This Ponyboy is absolutely gorgeous, by far my favorite that they offer. It is based off a 40s sports coat design. Made in Japan.
It is cut from a substantial Shinki horsehide. The lining is a nice cream oatmeal colored satiny material.
Overall, the jacket is in good condition. I am the second owner. I bought it secondhand from Japan, and am the second owner.
There are some small scratches and patina developing, and there is some fraying on the bottom of the pin side zipper tape. I used a touch of Dritz Fray Check to help seal that. The main zip is a little finicky; This is a fairly common thing with RC jackets, as noted on some forums like Fedora Lounge. It zips totally fine when laid flat, but sometimes I have to really carefully zip it up when putting it on myself, otherwise the bottom teeth don't engage. I attribute this to the jacket being maybe one size small for me, so I believe it will not be problem for a slimmer owner, but in the spirit of full disclosure, I wanted to note the issue. As you can see in the photos, the zipper does close properly when correctly aligned. The price reflects this quirkiness as well.
There is also a light stain on the bottom of the inside lining, this is pictured. The size tag print has worn off, but it's a 38.
Other than that, no smells or holes or tears. There are small nicks and lots of patina. Tons of life left on this jacket.
