17.5oz thick denim hand-dyed with Awa Indigo from Tokushima using specially made extra thick slub yarn.
The dye base called "sukumo" is made from indigo leaves that have grown over time, and the yarn bundles are dipped in the dye in a jar, washed, dipped and washed dozens of times to dye them a deep indigo color.
This allows the indigo to dye all the way to the core of the yarn, so unlike regular indigo denim, it is less likely to fade and will change to a pale, soft blue over the years. The
uneven coloring unique to hand-dyed denim and the slubby texture that runs like vertical stripes make this a masterpiece that gives off a strong impact.
AI-003 is a regular straight. It has the loosest thigh width of our products and a gently tapered silhouette.
