Hi Dave,
I really like your work.
I'm tempted... I usually wear a 42 long in a suit - I'm six two and 1.85 pounds what are the measurements of a 42 or 44?
Do you have some ready to go or do they need to be made to order?
Cheers - Seb
Seb,
Thanks for the question. Modern suits are very difficult to use as a guide for vintage jackets unfortunately. As to the sizing of my jackets... I am basically running on the same vintage sizing format as most originals.
That said though, I have simple formula that seems to work well... if you take your actual chest measurement and add +3" to the total number, you will have your size in vintage jackets. That of course is not the actual measurement of the jacket, but is the "Labeled Size" of the garment. Many originals work on a similar principle. Thus a vintage marked size 48 will often have a measurement of +4" over tagged size....or 52", this allows for the third dimension and as such is the measurement of the outside of the garment.
Hope that this makes sense?
As for "Ready To Wear", No, I do not keep anything on hand, since sizing is always an issue and the prices of supplies being what they are, it is far simpler to make everything on a custom basis.
Cheers and thanks again for the question,
DD
