This is FANTASTIC! Unlike Schott, Vanson still make jackets that are intended to be ridden in, so their patterns are incredibly comfortable and extremely easy to wear without losing any of the robustness you'd expect
from a classic American biker jacket.
The Thunderbird is the only jacket that Vanson offers with both quilt-lined body and quilt-lined sleeves, making this the perfect leather jacket for colder weather.
The jacket is a true classic bike jacket: A sewn-in belt, a one-piece back, and bi-swing gussets for ease of movement. It also has fully functional epaulettes (used to store your gloves when not riding), and functional zipped sleeves. All of the snaps and zippers are incredibly sturdy and will take any abuse you might throw at them. All of the pockets are extremely functional--there's even a deep interior pocket for your wallet.
The leather is wonderfully soft and comfortable--yet obviously very, very sturdy, and will grain and patina beautifully over the next few decades with some hard use. Also, as a bonus, this jacket has a wonderful grain developing on the left shoulder, where the steer from whose hide the leather was taken scratched himself on barbed wire at some point... This shoes as a lovely and unique jagged grain in the leather (NOT a scrape on the jacket!) that serves as a reminder of its organic origins.
This jacket doesn't just look cool. It works.
This is a classic American biker jacket--and it was, of course, Made in the USA.
This jacket is also NEW, and UNWORN--it comes complete with its original Vanson key fob still attached to the main zipper, just as it left the factory. This fob also has the jacket's unique ID number embossed on it, so if you wish you can contact Vanson to find its date of manufacture--and they'll use this to track the life of the jacket is you ever need them to repair or modify it.

This really is an absolute bargain for a new Vanson! This is a catch-and-release for me; I'm asking just want I paid, and I'll cover shipping to you. But offers are welcome! I really like this jacket, but I'm trying to maintain my "Two Lost Worlds and an Irvin" limit I've worked down too..... although I'm open to a trade / partial trade for a LW jacket in black, and 42 or 44.
