⚜ INFO ⚜
California Highway Patrol motorcycle leather jacket by Protech Leather Apparel.
260 EUR plus shipping. IBAN / WISE or, if absolutely unavoidable, PayPal (fees by buyer). But seriously, let's not use PayPal no more.
Until this jacket, I mostly ignored this brand (do an eBay search for Protech and you will immediately know why) but apparently, turns out they started off by actually manufacturing leather apparel of significant quality in the USA. Naturally, once this initial run put them on the map, the only logical thing to do was to shift production to South Asia, an infallible plan which, shockingly, resulted in the company going under.
Regardless, as an example of how good their USA made product initially was, this jacket has been executed so superbly that sacrilegiously so, it just might be my favorite take on the CHP style. After all, it had to not only adhere to strict specifications but also compete with what was currently on the market and we all know how high the bar had been set. It seriously is on par with the best adaptations of this style that I had handled, with all the features & characteristics that constitute a true CHP jacket.
Leather that you'd expect; thick, heavy full-grain cowhide with really lovely natural grain. Three pockets; Two external zippered pockets and one internal pocket. Super deep shoulder gussets that allow insane range of motion. Etc.
Concerning the fit, which is my favorite part about this jacket is that it is more fitted, structured & less boxy than how CHP's usually are. I would say that Vanson's version is altogether the closest match although the leather on this jacket is of noticeably higher grade. The stitching isn't as neat or precise as Vanson, though.
Protech succeeded in making a truly fantastic, proper CHP jacket in every regard, one that stands equal to its brethren with, potentially, a slight edge toward fit.
⚜ CONDITION ⚜
Very light, superficial signs of use and wear manifested only as light creases in the leather.
⛒ Insignificant repair of the lining right next to the Protech tag (see last photo below) ⛒
Short of this inconsequential and unnoticeable flaw, the jacket is in a perfect and flawless condition.
⚜ SIZE AND DIMENSIONS ⚜
Tagged size is an USA 42 but relating to what I said about it being fitted, consider it a proper 42 and the approximate measurements, taken to the best of my abilities, are...
