⚜ INFO ⚜
Late 1950s or early 1960s German made & German styled motorcycle leather jacket in a size 52.
€260 shipped with the EU. Plus €15 elsewhere. Wise/IBAN. Or PP but let's not use PP.
Spectacular jacket and a crown jewel of my very small collection. In terms of construction, craftmanship is generally similar to pre-war biker jackets but still with that extinct Western European tailoring sternness that the US makers began phasing out early on. Even overlooking the beastly leather that it is made of, this jacket is tough as nails... And speaking of leather, it is a super thick, heavy sort with fully natural grain, finish & texture. I could easily compare it with Vanson's CW in terms of weight, which is how I would rate the overall sturdiness of the jacket.
Obviously complex in execution, nothing about this jacket is overdone even though it is loaded with features, some of which are...
►Seven pockets; Four zippered front pockets, two zipper coin-pockets & one lining pocket, all lined in heavy cotton-drill
►Diamond quilted, softly padded, reinforced elbows & shoulders, all with white leather accents (copies have white bits made out of synthetic material)
► Diamond quilted, also padded, kidney panel for added protection & warmth
► OPTI and ZIPP hardware - OPTI main zipper has full-brass insertion pin so it won't ever rip away from the zipper tape while
► Fully detachable back half-belt for waist width regulation
► Heavy cotton moleskin lining
Etc.
Basically, all the right details are present while, perhaps more importantly, all the wrong ones are absent.
But everything aside, crucial aspect of this jacket is the way it fits; Sharp, exaggerated athletic silhouette with slim waist and accentuated shoulders, none of which affects its functionality & how comfortable it is. Feels great to wear it in every possible way.
In short, this is a truly great jacket. Better than most. I could go on but there's really no point. I don't believe there's anything one can really say to make you want a certain jacket more than you already do, same as there's nothing one can do to make you not want the jacket you had your mind set to so other than putting some minor details into perspective that the photos can't tell, this is as much as I'll say regarding the matter.
⚜ CONDITION ⚜
9.5/10. Minimal, insignificant signs of wear. No surprises there because all the material used in its construction is of such quality that I can't imagine what kind of wear would one have to subject this jacket to in order to make it look seriously worn in.
⚜ SIZE & DIMENSIONS ⚜
Tagged European 52. Corresponds to UK & USA 40 by my personal estimation. and the approximate measurements, taken to the best of my abilities, are...
