Kit Karson front quarter horsehide jacket, 1950’s. The horsehide is thick, with beautiful asymmetrical graining. The color of the leather is russet, with a lighter brown patina that emerged, most prominently on the sleeve creases. The sleeves utilize a heavier horse hide that feels rigid and high quality. Sheepskin lining with olive green quilted nylon lining in the sleeves and along the hem. Mouton collar is a gorgeous golden color. Knits at the wrists and hem are in decent condition, but have some fraying and repairs. Pocket bags appear original and are intact. Chest zip is missing its chain pull but still works well. There is a tear in the sheepskin lining that has been repaired with a leather patch, but this repair could certainly be done more professionally. There is a repair on the back of the right shoulder seam’s stitching. Some mild cracking of the leather adjacent to this repair. The tagged size is 44, but please check the measurements to see if this jacket will fit you.
