Not long ago, I read a very brief biography on Sinatra written by Peter Hamill, "Why Sinatra Matters," which weaves the author's acknowledged minor friendship with Sinatra into an informal bio that hits on the key events in Sinatra's life, but brings a personal connection and a emphasis on Sinatra's impact on the broader culture. Hamill - an author I really enjoy - is at his best evoking the mood, tempo and zeitgeist of an era which he does very will in this book.
Thought those reading this thread might enjoy the book which isn't a big commitment - I'm guessing a couple of hundred of not-dense pages at most.
