:D That is too funny! I had a roomate once, who, whilst I was away for the summer, became engaged with some Jehovah's witnesses and invited them in every day for a while. When I came back they expected to have long talks with me as well, but I went into my room and played heavy metal very loudly until they left. They never came back again.

Though I must say that the local JWs that frequently canvass my neighborhood do dress vintage. A couple of them have some really nice fedoras. :)

I usually tell them that I was just headed out the door.

My mum did that once (she wasn't actually naked, but she was wearing a robe that did more to enhance than conceal). And that did scare them off.

They were probably turned on and didn't want to succumb to their wants :p

In college, a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses came to my apartment. At that time in my life, I was polite to a fault, and while I was trying to nicely get them to get the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks off my porch, one of them looked past me and saw my tennis racquet. He said he played for BYU before he took this 2-year "missionary" travel. He was very cute and I said, yeah, they could come back in a couple of days and talk. On the expected day, I naturally had the place clean and tried my best to look fetching. They arrived at the scheduled time... two totally different guys. I was so disappointed. I did find it amusing to question their rhetoric and noticed that if they were interrupted in their obviously rehearsed script, they had difficulty formulating their own thoughts or opinions and had to get back to their rehearsed lines.

Since then, I have mastered the quick, yet polite, dispatch at the door (mid-sentence or not, that door shuts).

That's just not right. I would have been really mad if the cute one hadn't shown up.

That is nothing. My friend's brother answered the door and he got rid them them quickly. They went into their deal and Carl told them "We don't believe in God. We believe in Satan." He promptly slammed the door after. We looked out the window and they took off looking back at the house once. They never came back---ever.

Why doesn't this surprise me? :p

I believe they were Mormons, not Jehovah's Witness. Many young Mormons take off for two years to do missionary work.

I've known quite a few Witnesses over the years, and they're generally nice people and pleasant enough to talk to, up to a point. Some years ago I wrote an article for a broadcasting encyclopedia on the Witnesses' activities on radio during the 1930s, and had occasion to do some pretty deep historical research on the group -- and while I don't agree with their theology, I can't help but admire some of what they accomplished in the area of civil rights law during the thirties and forties -- despite being run out of many towns by lynch mobs. So if they come to my door I make a point of not giving them the bum's rush -- I save that for political canvassers.

No smoking

No illegal drugs

No trashy pornography (I only care for vintage erotica of the 1920s - 30s)

Being 'spiritual' - I don't mind tarot cards, pendulums (although I don't do 'divination' myself...I don't even meditate) - I only care to have crystals, essential oils and essences (but that's because that's all I use - it's all I need). I don't quite 'get' Oija boards - but I also don't care for all the fear surrounding them either (there's too much 'spiritual hysteria' as far as I'm concerned). Reincarnation - I'm totally fine with all that - as it's a personal truth of mine. Ghosts and paranormal - I'm also totally fine with that.

I don't like country music or rap or hiphop.

No cantalopes, honeydew, or watermelons because they burn my mouth and throat when I eat them...so I no longer eat them.

As far as III Reich stuff is concerned - I only care for the standard military items (medals) and Kriegsmarine items. It'd be kind of hard to not have that and do what I do.

A direct internet connection.

Landline phone connection.

TV...and a number of 'modern stuff' as I would like to keep things as 'vintage' as feasably possible.

Well..you can visit us..! We can smoke and joke and even discuss everything under the sun..if you like. You can even wear your shoes! However we do have elastic booties to go over them...and surgical gloves for less contamination. Kinda CSI..if you don't mind. We tend to watch O'Reilly at 8pm...but can switch to MSNBC if you would prefer. Steaks on the grill..or giant salad. Sweet iced tea..or Long Island iced tea. How about a nice Chablis! Rather not listen to Rap...but might be able to oblige for a few minutes. Make yourself at home! If you do something that is 'forbidden'...well that's what the wooden ruler is for....

is absolutely terrible.....
tumblr_llcp5pT4rq1qd6ubxo1_500.jpg

oh the horror.

They get such a terrible rep. My sister just adopted the one above, and she is a sweetheart, a bit of a brat, but an all around sweetie, she loves people and kids, not so sure about cats though. The people that train them to fight and be aggressive toward others, don't even get me started. The worst kind of people. Flat out.
In all dog breeds there is aggression, not just Pits.
Sorry to sound rude about it, it is just something I feel strongly about. Who are we to condemn those that we create?

hmm
Meat, I don't eat it, there for I don't keep it
Clowns and dolls.....clown dolls...terrible....
drugs, unless needed prescription.
I seldom watch TV anymore....but 'The Jersey Shore', haven't ever watched it, and never want to watch it.

Leave the Smoke alone!

Smoking is one of the oldest human activities, therefore one of the most vintage.....................

Sure, today cigarettes are filled with all kinds of muck and chemicals, back then you bought 'em pure, rolled your own, or smoked a pipe(which I am especially fond of :cool2: ).

Smoking isn't particularly healthy, but if you stick to the smoking ways of old then you can be much safer than sucking in embalming fluid like today.
Look at Sinatra, Martin, Crosby, Kyser, Astaire, Hope, Reagan... all associated with cigarettes or pipes (some smoked... and drank more than one should, cough cough Fra cough nk...) but they all lived to their late 70's, 80's, or in Reagan and Hope's case 90's or 100!

So please rat on MODERN SMOKING (mid 50's- present) not on the smoking of the Golden Era and before.

Thank you

*applause* :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

As a child our neighbour kept a pack of pit bulls that he used as hunting dogs. One day they escaped from their yard & killed our family pets. So no, I don't like pit bulls either.

I agree with you, when animals are brutalised or trained to kill it is the owners fault, but some dog breeds are inherently dangerous. Thank goodness pit bulls are now a restricted breed in most of Australia.
