I'd like to say no HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), I'm pretty careful about the stuff, but it is in EVERYTHING. I'm sure despite all of the label reading I do it is here someplace. Also, no GMOs, I try to avoid those things as well.

I also don't cook with cane sugar anymore. But that's also in everything, and is preferable to HFCS, so there are plenty of products with good old white sugar in them on my shelves.

I just thought of one- no yeast leavened products. But that's not really a choice (allergies). If I can't eat it, it's not here.

I allow no smoking in my house. I don't want smoke damage to my antiques, paint, curtains, fabrics, etc, etc, etc.

Modern music is also a no-no.

That's the only channel for news my folks watch, and that I watch lol To each their own!

Non-smoking, bacon-eating, Fox News-watching*, modern music-hating... C'est Moi :D

*actually I very seldom watch TV of any kind.

Eww, that just reminded me of how much I hate pipe smell. It actually makes me sick. No smoking in our house, either. Hubby actually wanted to forbid smoking at our outdoor wedding, but I convinced him that this was a step too far :)

I'm the smoker in the house, I banned smoking in the house. As far as I'm concerned, I'm the one with the habit and I don't want it stinking out the house. If I smoke in the house it lingers for days. Disgusting, even if I do say so myself.

I really should ban reeses butter cups and chocolate in general. It never lasts more than an hour :D

Well, I'm a 'live and let live' kind of guy. Usually I'm not for prohibitions. However, all medieval torture instruments are definitely forbidden inside the house. You can use them in the porch, though.

I won't have cable news channels of any kind. I was a reporter for a long time, and it pains me to see what a foul joke the "profession" has degenerated into.

No rock-era music, either. If I want to hear shrill-voiced people screaming about their unhappy lives, I'll call my sister.

I also won't allow the boiling of cruciferous vegetables. My kitchen has very poor ventilation and my house is very small.

Bacon and barbeque candles. I must find some.

Black pudding. Yargh! I was offered some while in England. I asked what it was. I was told to just try it. Major red flag alert. I didn’t try it, and when I found finally out what it was I was glad I didn’t.

No Ouija boards for me either. I had an interesting experience with one in a junior high school science class. Spooked me pretty good. No thanks.

No animals.

No smoking.

Oh, now... if we were to venture into verboten territory I could give you a very, very long list.... ;)

That's a very good point, Edward. However, in order to avoid the same tiresome battles over doctrine, I try to argue at home that my ban on Fox News is merely a matter of taste. It should stand to reason, I was once told, that if the same newscasters were to deliver truthful, unbiased information with the same style, then my revulsion should disappear. I wholeheartedly agreed that this is an experiment worth pursuing.

There is no such thing as unbiased news, for the very act of choosing which stories are worthy of time exhibits bias. Of course, one always views that with which we agree as truthful.
