I’ve never done this before but some members suggest that it is possible to shrink the jacket a bit by giving it a water treatment and heating it up again to dry it. You can find information about this on the forum

Then sell it to them and let them risk it! I have the same jacket (also 42) and agree with Frank (and your own findings) that the jackets fits well in some places but definitely has much more across the shoulders than mine. The style does give some room in the back - but yours has more than mine. I'm very much a regular Aero 42 fit. The length and arms fit as mine does. Mine takes a fine wool jersey under it but little more. They are a great jacket though
