Black Bear Brand/Rios of Mercedes Roper.

What can I say? The top-notch quality is typical RoM, the bold design is typical BBB. Ordered last year.

Weird last on them: narrow and elongated at the same time. Good thing, the higher powers have equipped me with pretty forgiving feet.

Exciting. I like most of the bbb boot designs. Looking forward to seeing some real life evo as opposed to the intentional distressing on insta.

Wearing them as we speak, albeit with a suit and tie in the office; one thing I had not thought about: Having the vamp in rough-out is grabby AF. Every time I stand up I have to manually fiddle the trouser leg down again. Hope this works better with a pair of jeans.

Got this pair of White's from JP. Was ~300eu for the boots + ~50eu for the shipping. White's boots are quite popular in JP, unlike something like Nick's.
Totally black super stealth look doesn't rock my boat so I took them to my local cobbler who sanded down the edges to reveal the natural leather and sealed them. He also change the topy which was not in very good shape.
Not too happy with the strike through black leather and black hardware.
One interesting upside of this pair is the single row stitching on the welt instead of the typical bulky double row - I like that, especially on a semi-dress pair.
Overall I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't get the famous high arch or the dogger/logger heel with this one as my first (fitting) PNW boot pair, but with a few more modifications I think they will be a decent addition to my collection.

^^ That's an interesting pair of White's. I'll have to review their page as this much lower-arch model isn't familiar to me. They look like Nick's Falcons which are similarly built on a lower-arch last.

The bottom sole (not heel) is quite unfamiliar to me - is that what you meant here "He also change the topy which was not in very good shape.

The stitching through the middle of the side was not familiar to me - it's indicative of the Semi-dress model...

I second this.

I also have to pairs in the 79 last (Java waxed flesh and shrunken bison). Quality is good for the price. You will find criticism on their QC, but that’s always, “heard it from a friend”.
Sizing is maybe half a size more generous than RW Iron Ranger/Blacksmith. I picked the same size, and it works for me.

A lot of great "serious" boot suggestions here. I'm having good luck for business casual, casual dining with Clarks Chuka boots. Have a beeswax pair for my brown leather jacket, black for the black biker jacket. Very comfortable and only $80-100.
Got sold on Chuka boots after seeing pictures of Steve McQueen (the 60s actor not the current film director) wearing them.

Sorry for double posting but I wanted to share some pictures of my Sendra engineers that I re-colored a while ago to better match my leather jackets(from CXL#8 burgundy to a dark brown). I'm super happy with the result, and now after some wear the color seems to have stuck great(I see now that one strap may need another go)!

Some pictures to show the difference:

That's an interesting and well-executed re-dye of those nice Engineers.
Color #8 (Cordovan - Burgundy) is a highly appealing color initially at least to my eyes. However in my own practical experience, it's somewhat a difficult color to "live with" in real life. While I've not had many boots this color, I have owned several Aero jackets in color #8, in a couple "shades" of it as it does vary. All have moved along.

That's likely why with the Whites Nomads I ordered, I chose the brown, seems easier to pair with overall.

Thanks man.

I agree 100%, love the color of it(may be my favorite color from Horween) but I do own a pair of Service boots in that exact leather which is enough for me :D

A pair of Sendra engineers were my first goodyear welted footwear, maybe 15 years ago. They’re made in Spain, like myself. I remember they were very narrow for my feet. I should’ve gone for the longer shaft but at the time I felt that was too much.

Shortly after David Beckham signed for Real Madrid and he became a fan of Sendra engineers too, apparently.

Actually last winter I briefly considered getting some hiking-styled boots.

My favourite were the Paraboot Avoiraz:

But they were too expensive for a style I was not fully sold on, so I looked at the Sendra Milles.

Beautiful!

You are right calling them "hiking-inspired", for I can well see some functional issue but still - very nice visually!
