Flying Tigers patches on Avirex Jacket

Hi Guys. Need to have some information if someone can tell me why there is a 8af patch on the shoulder of this jacket and a 23rd flying tigers squadron patch. I don't understand because flying tigers never fight under the 8AF....thanks for your kind help. Take care.

Avirex does not think things through sometimes, just going with what they think looks good. Correct, no 8th AF/Flying Tiger connection. I remember being ripped by one of the mods on FL for pointing this out on someone's Avirex jacket. It was a nice looking Avirex A-2 all decked out in European Theater markings with a 5th AF (Pacific Theater) patch? My point was that with just a bit more homework, things could be "done right" Oh well............................

I'm planning buying a repro of a B10 jacket on the SB sales page. It's a black one, I'm not very exigeant with high quality details but there is still a 8AF patch on the left shoulder. What squadron patch can I put on the left chest and right shoulder to have correct matching with the 8AF? Concerning the squadron patch I prefer cartoon look ones. If you can help me on this choice it will be amazing!!! Thanks agzin

You might still be crazy if to want a BLACK B-10, totally unauthentic color never used for a B-10. Only saying this as you questioned an 8th AF patch on an AVG jacket and if that was correct. You can do web search on fighter and bomber squadrons in the 8th AF in ww2 for patch options. There would be MANY choices. Oh, as an adult, you might want to skip a Disney patch. Most people won't know what the patch means so you are an adult, wearing odd looking "vintage" jacket with a cartoon character patch on it. "Man-child!!!!!"
