I think you mean the antique finish on the leather? You can opt for a different sheepskin without that treatment.

The USSR design is made of sheepskin with a twill exterior. If you want just sheepskin, go for the American AN-J4/M-445 or British Irvin.
Maybe antique finish. I meant the shine and the structure as if the leather is going to crack when bent..
Does Shawn have really soft leathers, which bent smoothly and do not need to breaking in?

How heavy is M-445?

My modified M-444 weighs 2.5 kg.
Since the M-444 still has leather trim and patch pockets, it should be a few grams heavier.

My Irvin does not have that. The leather is soft and thick. 8F1D2825-EFA7-4FA8-B90E-59A59A69D59F.jpeg

What do you guys think of weight differences (and other differences if you prefer) between b-3, b-2 and b-9 in terms of weight? All in sheepskin.

WPG is basically the lowest quality military reproduction brand. Occasionally they will release something well made but it is always a guessing game.

Five Star Leather makes truly excellent B-3, AN-J4 (think B-3, except even better), and Irvin/RAF jackets. They are based in Pakistan so they're far easier to order for international audiences.

Regarding 'quality of military reproduction' I do not think that you can trust what WPG publishes in terms of customer reviews, and more importantly the feedback on 'poor quality' that it censors in order to prevent customers feedback(on very very poor quality of product received from WPG). No matter how polite and constructive the feedback on a poor quality product is, WPG selectively other than positive feedback. In my opinion. it is misleading for a company to prevent potential purchasers from seeing published reviews from an existing purchaser, of WPG items that 'need quality improvement' shall we say. It is a reason why I have never returned to WPG to purchase any other gear. 'Once bitten twice shy', caveat emptor, never again.
