Five Star Leather Jackets

@KBlake Can you take your shoe/boot brush and give the pimpled cuff some TLC brushing. In theory the bumps should go away after brushing as the stuff that is trying to escape the leather core is being pushed back into the fibers. Heat from the brushing also helps. It doesn't hurt to try brushing. If it doesn't work then WW3.

I also think Shawn should give you something, but not so much for the particular blister jacket, which I would expect from a 350 dollars jacket. But for what you did with them in terms of new jacket designs. It took you the time of 30 pages of this thread to out do 300+ pages of this thread. It has just hit me that happened. Well done.

The 5Star I knew had jackets that looked like these, nothing fancy, very budget friendly prices.
View attachment 568311

The 5Star jackets after KBlake now looks like this, like a totally different company.
View attachment 568315

There is a HUGE leap forward in styles here. Same budget leather and material, but huge leap forward in styling.

To get these same six jackets made in the US/Japan using brand name material, would be at least north of $1,200 in current pricing. There are good deals on used jackets for sure, but if one wanted these jackets in premium material, one would have to pay more than one would like, even used. I would know.
View attachment 568324

So yes, 5Star still budget material, but now way better looking jackets, at 350 a pop plus expensive shipping fees. My only wish is that KBlake you were here in this thread three years ago and did what you just did the last 30 pages, but earlier.

Hi everyone. I'm currently looking at 4 different jackets made by FiveStar Leather. The only thing that makes me uncertain about getting them is their colors. I'm interested if anyone has any experience with following jackets. If so, you can send me pictures of it in the DM, as I'm interested which color I should go for. Also, I'm not sure which size to get. My chest size is 103cm (40.55in) round while wearing a long-sleeved shirt. I normally wear M sized clothing.

Each jacket has it's own chart, but this is what confuses me. Should I buy the jacket according to BODY SIZE or GARMENT SIZE?
This is another example. Should I buy the jacket according to the "Suitable for Chest" size?
I think that I should go for an M sized jacket, as the garment sizes for Regular M seem ok.

Also, this is how I would like the jacket to fit. I don't want it to be to tight, but also not to big. I would like my jacket to fit me and be the same color as the guy on the left's jacket.
I like seal brown leather jackets a lot, so I would like an A-2 one that's the same color.

These are the jackets that I was looking at:

Did anyone buy these jackets or had experience with them? I like seal brown jackets a lot, I would like to know your thoughts on which one should I get according to that. Also, I can see that there is a color picker next to the jacket , but upon clicking nothing changes. And finally, what is the difference between the jackets on first and second picture?

Have you posed any of those questions directly to 5*? Seems like a logical first step before asking on a forum.
Let me give this one a shot though:
And finally, what is the difference between the jackets on first and second picture?
The second one is the same picture as the first, only the lining via the neck hole is extremely poorly photoshopped / edited to a solid brown color. That gives you a great example of what 5* is about.

For a2 jackets, you should ask at https://www.vintageleatherjackets.org. There are some who have them. There are some models that were made as copies of the originals. They are not supposed to be that bad.

both.

I have the Dubow 20960 contract. I'm about 41 inch chest. And I debated between Medium and Large. I went with Medium because large is too wide at the waist for me. My jeans waist is about 35", and 44.5" around the waist is already giving me a lot of extra room. But this is how the A2 jackets fits. I went with Medium also because this particular contract has huge sleeves by design. Some other contracts has slimmer sleeves. You can google individual contract numbers and check out all the different fits on the internet.

Also go for the "repro" contracts, thats where the value is at. Don't mess with the civilian A2s. Do a search on the different contracts just google their name and number and you will find tons of info.

Stay away from their cheap jackets. There is a reason they are priced the way they are. Go with their higher end A2 repos if going with 5 star. Their HH repos are excellent deals. The rest of the cheap stuff is trash in my opinion.

The one you linked to is his house A2 I think, and not a repro Bronco.
Which is ok as long as you know what you’re getting into.
The repro Bronco contracts I’ve seen have a taper both in the sleeves and torso, with regular A2 shoulder.
The jacket you linked to has more of a modern fashion fit. Square shoulder, slim but not tapering sleeves and torso.
5* has Bronco repro but I just checked it’s more than twice the money. That’s a bit strange. Maybe work out a deal with him on the expensive Bronco repro. The price diff is a bit too drastic imo. His repro Bronco looks like a Bronco with the tapering silhoulett.
IMG_1951.jpeg

I would go with cheaper goatskin but Bronco pattern to reduce cost over goatskin house pattern. The repro Bronco pattern should be more flattering fit than the tubular house pattern.

What is a house A2? Also, how could I contact the owner? I wrote them an e-mail, but they haven't responded. I saw that they have WhatsApp. What about this one? The only difference between the Bronco one I linked now and the one I linked before is that this one has "Bronco Repro" in it's name. The only visible difference between the two is that the Bronco one I've linked now has the neck hole photoshopped to a brown color, which is kinda odd. Also, I was looking at this jacket. The only thing that I'm worried about is that will the color of the jacket shown in the website's picture be the same in real life. I would love to see some pictures of it other than the ones from their website.

House A2 is a generic A2 they came up with. Repo is a copy of an actual A2 contract. The bottom one is priced the way it is for a reason. Don’t expect much if you order it. As far as color goes their pics usually don’t look nothing like the actual jacket.
If you go with five star go with their high end jackets. I got several of their horse hides and am very satisfied with them.
Not a fan of their Bronco. But that’s just me.

Ok I see where I had mis read my bad. Anyways, I went back to your older post and I would suggest to email 5* and,

1) tell them you want the specific fit, per your photo,
this is how I like the jacket to fit.jpg

2) And you want it in the seal color like your photo,
this is the color I like a lot.jpg

3) give them your body measurements, and let them give you a quote on an A2 jacket based on these requirements. I used to reach Shawn by email, and sometimes Messenger app, I am not sure which is the best method of contacting them now as it's been a while I was there. But given all these info they should be able to give you a quote on your desire jacket.

As for color of the leather matching the color of the photo online. You can ask them for a photo of the leather they are quoting your jacket with.

Based on all your info (1,2,3) I would suggest the Bronco contract. Because it has tapering. You'll still need even more custom tapering to reach that 80s fit though. So if you are ordering size 40, you would actually order 42 and taper it down to 40, this would give you wider shoulder and more tapering to get that 80s fit, plus the bigger size will also give you the bigger sleeves like your desire fit reference photo. It has to be a custom because to reach the neat fitting in the waist without extra material you need to have more tapering than normal.

The base build would still be based on the Bronco and not the one you linked to because that one the shoulder fit doesn't look right for the look you want,
bronco fashion vs repro.jpg

And you need more tapering than the stock Bronco, so one size up and taper one size down at the waist, that should give you a total difference of 7.8" drop from chest to waist to give that big top small waist V look like your photo. I am gonna assume you're a younger guy and don't have a gut, if you do, then you can probably just do the stock Bronco but one size up to get that relaxed top look.
bronco.jpg

I am basing the recommendation to go up one size Bronco and tapering down because I have a very V tapering G-1 jacket that fits sort of like your fit reference,

IMG_0630.JPG

Anyways, send your fit reference photo and desired leather color photo and your measurements to 5 star and let them work on it and give you a quote back. They should in theory know their own jackets the best.

I love their RW A2s with added length. And the reddish brown HH is just beautiful leather. This is a RW 23380

I just took a look at other Bronco contracts they have on their websites and found these:
1st one - it seems that the shoulders on this jacket aren't square, but regular A2 shoulders
2nd - this one also has regular A2 shoulders
3rd - also has regular A2 shoulders
Are these ones a good choice for a Bronco contract?
I think that they aren't house A2s, but I was wondering if they are worth watching. If not, I will contact the owner for a quote of a custom jacket. Also, I have a question about the VAT, taxes and possible shipping fees for shipping from 5* to Croatia, in the EU. Do they have a warehouse in Europe from which they could ship the jacket so there is no additional VAT and tax charges?

When I ordered my last jacket there, there was an address in Germany (mailbox?), but the jackets always came directly from Pakistan. This means VAT + customs duty on the value of the goods and shipping costs + handling fee.
This makes the jackets less of a bargain than at first glance.
Regarding A2, it's probably best to ask in the vintage jacket forum. Because there is more experience there than here (I would say from reading).
