Fishy reply to my WTB post

This guy responded to my WTB ad but when pressed for a video call to show me the ihj69 he said he didn't have time and could only converse through email. Anyhow, I believe his intentions are nefarious and wanted to be sure people are aware that this happens on every website. If not the case, then I apologize for being cautious.

Yeah either this same guy or someone on a different account using the same script hit me up yesterday. I immediately blocked and reported the account.

Yeah that script is 100% weird and fishy for sure. Dude is not legit, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

However the video call thing I'm not really about either as a personal preference (and multiple people I know aren't as well). If you have plenty of reputation via multiple people and websites, it's completely unnecessary.

Right, for buying here, you can check their post history. Some folks seldom contribute to the site outside of sales, so even their status (one too many, new in town, etc.) isn't a full-proof indicator. I've never had to engage with someone outside of DM for a purchase.

Pattern recognition lol. I’ve seen this type of response a few times before in almost the same format or some variance of it basically indicating they know somebody who has the item you’re looking for followed by dropping the email address.

Just be careful trusting veteran accounts. 53panheadfan had his account hacked and then whoever hacked it started selling old jackets that didn’t exist and someone got ****med.

"Fishy"? That guy's message was "fishy"?

Thats like the last two coeds still alive in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and one turns to the other and goes: "This whole thing feels a little fishy. I'm not entirely convinced this guy is using real USDA prime beef in his chili..."

That message was akin to the one coed hanging from a hook, then blurting out, "maybe that wasn't USDA prime beef in the chili", LMAO!
