Get both!

The white is great for when you wear wing collar. With laydown collar the black will work better. Like Super semi-formal and ordinary semi-formal.

If only there were that many opportunities.

I would only wear a detachable wing collar with a peak,and only a laydown with a shawl.This waistcoat should work with the peak model,if it is indeed rental wool.And it's so inexpensive,I could get both the white and the black.

They also have a three button black satin model,but it's poly satin,and I'm not a big fan of poly.The white pique waistcoat is a blend,but I can live with that.

It says "Super 100's",and I understand rentals are usually Super 80's.It also appears to have sleeve buttons,which I think sets it apart from a rental as they don't have them.My biggest concern is that it may be one of those "too good to be true" things.Now about those shoes,are they any good?Can you give me some specs on them?I've never really been a big fan of patent leather (since it has a plastic coating),so I may go with the calf model as well.

Probably on par with something from Kohls or Penny's, but with all the right details. Again, you're young. This is not going to be 'the' tuxedo you're going to go through life with. It really is an extravagance at your age.
The shoes are leather lined and have thin leather soles. I think the heals are rubber. Shoebuy has a pretty good exchange policy. They may be a tiny bit narrower than some of my other shoes.

Oddly enough,one of the things I look forward to most is untying the tie at the end of the evening and letting it drape.

So do I. But don't do it at the actual event that you're attending; wait until you repair to an after party, jazz club or dive bar.

IMO, the untied look does not look very good with a wing collar shirt.......... especially one with detached collar. :eusa_doh:

The sole is buff colored leather the heal is half leather and the rear portion is some sort of black composite.

All the photos of this shoe show wrinkling at the top corner of the vamp. These are actually very smooth overall.

You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear the heel has leather in it.And it makes me even happier to hear that the creases show in the pictures are actualy smooth!

I'm a little wary of kidskin.I don't really think it's appropriate for wear with black tie.And the other two really don't appeal to me.Thanks though.If they get calf in,I'll go with those.Otherwise,I'll get them directly from the company.
