I replaced my first ribbon and bow on several hats yesterday. My first attempt was on a new Hemp Stratoliner. I have a long face and the narrow ribbon just did not look good on me. I replaced it with a 1.5 inch dark brown ribbon and bow. I put a small swirl in the ribbon and it really turned out well. It was a little harder than I expected. Getting the needle through the bottom stitches were tricky. After this hat, I got my courage up and did a grey fur felt hat. It went somewhat faster and I really like the contrast so much better than the one inch black ribbon that it had. I used a 1.5 inch mid grey.

I am going to try to make some unusual hat liners in the next couple weeks.Pictures coming.

Well done and a nice bow design as well. Curious to see your liners.

Thank you. I should have them in a couple of weeks. They will surely be different. My sister sent me a mask out of this vintage material and lucky for me she had enough left for a few liners. It is old styles like Indian chief cane sugar and Hog Wash feed. I plan to use the center of the liner with an advertisement and the sides in a solid color. I really don’t know how it will look but it will surely be for an informal hat. I will post some pictures when I get one made.
