This is my first post on the Fedora Lounge and would like to thank the Forum and especially all the amazing posters that have shared their experiences and knowledge on all matters regarding leather Jackets. Its very rare to find a forum site that contains such fine folk that discuss, critique, share, support and behave in such a gentlemanly and mature manner. Thank you, you have all helped me immensely in the purchase of my first quality leather jacket, an Aero Highwayman.

I started the process about 18 months ago, spending literally hundreds of hours on this site, looking at all the amazing jackets, reading all the fitting posts, drooling over the endless posts of amazing jackets and blown away with certain individual’s private collections. After a lot of deliberation on body shapes, jacket styles, age groups, leather types, personal likes and dislikes, manufacturers etc. etc. I decided at the end of September to contact Holly at Aero to get the ball rolling.

Working with Holly was a great experience, she is an amazing lady, knowledgeable, professional, and most importantly, just a wonderful human being. Thank you Holly.

I sent her a fit pick (or poorly fitting pic) of an exist leather jacket that I have been wearing for the last few years, giving her the measurement of the jacket along with my actual measurements. As a guide, I am 55 years of age, 6’2” (188 cm), 220 lb (100 kgs), 44” Chest expanded, 40” stomach (too much beer and good living) and 40” around the waist over my belt, 27” arm length and requested a back length of 27”. Researching this forum, I found that observing other individual’s personal stats and jacket measurement in conjunction with the Fit pics, really helped me choose a suitable style and Jacket size. In my case with a relatively blocky shape, 44-40-40, definitely not the Greek Adonis physique, the Highwayman style seemed to fit the bill.

Based on my stats, Holly suggested a Highwayman in size 42 would be the best fit and I went with Vicenza HH in Blackened Brown (as grainy as possible), Antique Brass fittings, black stitching and Patriot Modern medium weight Tartan Liner (went this way on the liner as I wanted to show my support to Aero and Scotland as they were doing it tough through the corona pandemic).

I received final confirmation prior to manufacture on 5/1/21 and my jacket arrived yesterday 25/2/21.

To say that I was blown away by the quality and construction is an understatement, the stitching is perfect, the leather grain and color is beautiful and very sturdy. The lengths are on the money and I feel that the fit is great for my first go and will only get better over wear and time. I will let you experts be the judge. Here are a couple of pics, only thing missing is a smile, but inside I was brimming with joy.

Thanks again to all of you incredible posters who make this site such an amazing library of knowledge.

Happy to have you here; so welcome! That’s how it all started for me too. I read here for like 2 years before officially joining and posting. Now I have made a few real life friends, social media friends, found common interests etc...with a bunch of people on this forum. You will find this to be the best forum for jackets, vintage, boots, military. There are other places, some focus on this or that, some very knowledgeable people. But to me this is the best place because of the people. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for? It’s a nice middle ground where all things meet-intelligence, knowledge of history, fashion, and most importantly respect and decency. Nice first serious jacket. Hope you stick around; although you may want to leave now and never come back. Your wallet will thank you; there’s still time to save yourself.

Stock Man - great post, screen name, and choices you made! Fits you to a Tee, and you have good Fedora Lounge company not too far away down there in Australlia. Welcome to FL - even though you have been here a long time in fact. Hope you enjoy this new Highwayman, you really nailed the fit, which isn't easy to do. Hope it cools off a bit soon for you so you can enjoy wearing this around.
