FILSON FIELD SATCHEL
No longer made.
This is the briefcase you want!

This is the briefcase you want!
Before it was discontinued Filson offered three iterations of their famous Field Satchel. The first secured the lock to the satchel by a single rivet. This put considerable strain on that poor thing, and so the lock was then secured by two rivets. But, to save costs, Filson then replaced the rivets with pins.
This Satchel has the double rivet construction, which is the most desirable iteration of this briefcase.
All of these Satchels were constructed by hand in Filson's Seattle workshops. They are made from Bridle Leather cut from the strongest part of the hide, and then sew with sturdy nylon thread. Reminiscent of briefcases from the start of the C20th, these take around ten years of heavy use to break in--this one has started this process but is still nice and stiff, ready for you to put your own imprint on it.
This satchel closes with a sturdy brass lock (made in England) and two leather straps secured with heavy brass buckles. It has a full-length newspaper pocket on the back, and two inner compartments with two inside leather pockets.
This is in Very Good/Excellent condition. It has some minor patina from use (as shown). It comes complete with its original set of keys, its original carrying strap, its original tags, and both its interior box and the box from which it was originally shipped from Filson.
It measures: 17" W x 12 1/2" H x 4" D
Asking $745, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the CONUS with signature confirmation delivery.
