Great boots, mendelboaz. I showed the same ones in the Accoutrements board, on the Wesco thread. They're rock solid and usually get some looks on the street, but I stuck with the yellow laces for maximum impact.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a custom pair of Wesco Boss or Harness, but still haven't finalised the details.

Thanks, wdw! I've got a custom pair of Harness boots myself, they're great. They're 16" tall and leather lined, with a double midsole. They are quite heavy and stiff, I'd be happier if they were 14" tall and have a single midsole.

I went with the black laces as I feel the yellow laces are a bit too Doc Marten-y.

^ Jobmasters are classic, they make skinheads rocking Doc Martens feel inadequate. I love my Boss boots and am considering another pair from Wesco in the near future also.

Really nice Mendel. I've been flirting with the idea of leaving jackets altogether and getting onboard the boot train. Cheaper, and I feel I'd wear them so much more than a jacket. Those are inspiring.

mendelboaz, pavineguy, the Jobmasters make Doc Martens look like little girls' boots.:)

As for the customs, I'm definitely going burgundy, and am leaning towards the Harness in a double sole as I like the toe. I might lose the rings, but then they might look too cowboy-ish. I love the feel of my 16" Bosses on my legs, so might go high.

Why didn't you like the double sole, mendelboaz, as I think it looks good with the separate vibram sole?

@Nick-- thanks, mate! There's really no need to abandon or jump on any wagon. Jackets & boots are both great things to spend tons of cash on, I say spend money on both ;) life isn't complete without jackets or boots.

@wdw-- I'd stick with the rings, they belong to the Harness style. Sounds like a great pair of boots! I do agree the double midsoles look very cool, but the single midsole would be less stiff & heavy, and be more comfortable and more durable. Single midsoles enable Wesco to stitch on the outsole, while a double midsole restricts them to using glue for the outsole. Already had a slight problem with that.

Those job masters kick @ss!!

I have some burgundy colored red wings, and while they seem to go great with black, I don't think they are as good of friends with brown. They do look really good with khaki chinos though, as well as denim. I have never considered burgundy harness boots, but now that I imagine them, I bet they look nice.

Another shot of the Thorogood horsehide boots. Tis the year of the boot for me! Planning to get a collection rolling in the near future.

I love Wescos. Beautiful. I wish they would offer some of their export styles to the USA. They have a service boot that I'm told they only offer to Japan. I'd like to see it. I bet it is grand. But I don't want them to go the way of Viberg and flip their business to fashion.

Can anyone define a scout boot for me? I see it is the new term. I think it is the same upper as a service boot, but with those off-white, old style carpenter boot soles. Danner also makes a city-slicker fashion hiking boot with those soles. Mountain Light II or something like that.

I don't remember what I paid for them, and I ordered them about 1/2 size too big, so they sat for a while. But despite this, they've become great comfortable boots. I've never owned Red Wings or Wolverines, but I think they're most likely a good compliment to them. Construction isn't flawless, but they're made well, and the pull-up horsehide's very flavorful and grainy once broken in. If they're still available, I recommend them.
