I wear a cheap pair of Clark "Roar" Chukka's in black and one in brown depending on the weather and the jacket. They're strictly for show not go. I've Redwings and other things for field work. Clarks are strictly for pretense.

Very interesting thread.

I am very happy with my amber harness RW Iron Rangers. Some of the most comfortable boots I have worn.

The White semi-dress boots I would love to have too. But as I live in Europe I do not know what the best way would be to get a pair...

How did my fellow Europeans acquire their White boots? Any info would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

I have those in brown, but after about a year, the soles are coming off...
The shoe repair guy in my town says he can't fix them. I tried some glue but that only held a couple of days. Bummer cause I like
them.

Bakers do ship to the UK, I asked last year, can't remember the price though.
There is a White's seller in the UK, http://eastwestapparel.co.uk/ don't think the site is fully up and running yet though.

Just found Kyle's email, $59.99 to ship to the UK.

Sorry to hear your Clark's Roar desert boots have let you down, Worf. I adore mine and they're into their second summer and going strong. My only regret was buying just one pair!
But in the other 3 seasons you'll ALWAYS see me in a variety of good ol' Aussie Blunnies! They're fantastic. Quite simply, they're the best boots I've ever owned. Stylish, practical and non-fussy. I highly recommend spending the titch more to get the leather-lined option. You can peruse the Blundstone range here:

pipvh, could you get the RW's resoled? I've heard of them lasting much longer than 6 years.

I'm not sure... the welt's disintegrating and it's beyond the capabilities of my local cobbler. They should in theory last longer but they've been worn very hard. I haven't thrown them away yet, though!

:eeek:Guilty as charged.:DAnd no, I dont sport this look anymore, I think I learnt my lesson looking at this pic:p
I just think sneakers, etc are for other things. I've got ~50 pairs of footwear including Crocs, sneakers, engineer boots, cowboy boots, WWII repro boots, sandals, etc. Just when I put on a $1000-$1500 jacket, it gets some respect with matching footwear, watch straps, etc. In fact, I counted my Crocs last night - four pairs lol

That really sucks. I know that still... in boots and shoes... you often get what you pay for. I bought two pairs of Clarks because they had em in my size and I knew I'd never wear them in the field. I've tall, wide feet so I'm hoping these last a few more years.

I'm wearing crocs right now with my greens (surgical scrubs). Love 'em.
I even have a pair at home - but wear them only if I'm in shorts and T. When it's that toasty and humid, I just don't care.

In defense of Schitzo, he still looks cool.

:kick:

Here's what I wear - simple cowboy boots - these are a very old pair of Loblans in black - overpolished in brown - camera doesn't really pick up the colour.

Those Whites type boots are cool, but for me have two issues...

A - Hard to buy in the UK and WAY overpriced.

B - Heavy round-toed boots under cuffed jeans, in the UK, scream just one thing - ageing Skinhead. I was never one of those at the time, and am certainly not one now. So, I would rather be "old guitarist" (which is what cowboy boots tend to denote in the UK)....

My apologies to you US guys, who, I am sure, will think I am talking b*ll*x....:D;)

I have no manly man issues wearing them. Like I said, I wear 'em in the house and to outside and get mail, feed chickens, etc. BFD - I don't wear 'em out to dinner. I also don't feel the need to lace up a pair of boots to take out the trash...

I wasn't accusing you of being 'unmanly' at all ..it's just that around here only girls wear crocs. In California(Canada..England..and prob Europe) they do things differently. BTW Butte..What color?...Lavender?? [huh];)
