I just found these boots on the LL Bean site. I don'>t think they were mentioned here yet but they seem quite nice, similar to Red Wing. Does anybody have them?

I wonder if these are still made by Chippewa.

I believe those are Chip service boots. I have a pair.

They are nice, but I do think my Red Wing Iron Rangers and Blacksmiths are better.

The Chips are made a bit too narrow for my foot. Not terrible, but noticeable. But beyond that, they don't seem to have the same stitch, hardware and comfort quality as the RWs.

YMMV.

Hi,

Nice EDC!

I really like the bone handle folding knive. is this custom made?

Cheers

A

Yep, the makers who carry elephant are licensed to purchase it from legitimate sources. I love elephant hide. My wallet & off-duty holster/belt are made from black elephant trunk leather. Here's a pic of my bifold, which I carry often:

Just placed the order for a black pair of White's original Packer boots, with Mini-Vibram soles. Now the wait, about 5 weeks I should see them. I'm blessed to have a good, broken in pair of Nick's boots in brown that are similar in design through the classifieds here on FL, and really love the high arch support (so does my back.) Going to see how the White's do also. May be a few good used pairs of boots going up for sale soon too!

I just picked these up from Sierra Trading Post. The lacing to toe is nice for getting these to fit snugly without being too tight in the toe box. The cigar leather is very nice and the storm welt is an interesting feature I haven't seen in many of the Red Wing Heritage line of boots. These were made for the Asian and European markets and weren't available in the USA but STP seems to have a quantity of 2nds that they're clearing out so I picked up a pair.

Suede is actually pretty easy to maintain in my opinion as long as you accept that it will stain. An occasional brushing and light application of conditioner seems to be all that's necessary.

Okay.. so I'm looking to get a pair of Service boots or something along those lines. Can't Really afford anything more than £250 and would consider 2nd hand. Looking for a tough all rounder that fits the era between the early 50s to the mid 60s and would have been worn by a Korean War Pilot in his mish-mash of auld and new, a Fighter Jock at Edwards or Pax River or an Astronaut on a Geology field trip.

Currently considering the following, in an UK 8.

Pike Brothers 1948 Service Boots

Wolverine 1000 Mile, though not so sure of the shape on these

Quite like the colour on these Chippewa's as well, however like with the Wolverine I'm maybe looking for a rounder toe

How do people rate the Red Wing Beckman, sure I've read mixed reviews in here, though the sole looks maybe the best all rounder?
