+2 I was born in Japan, raised an American, but I like to imagine my heart Italian. One of the highlights of my life was some vacation time in Italy. I envy your life amongst so much history Daniele
Mike thanks for your kind words.
Here the history is at every corner and sometimes it is difficult to live with, but it helps to live in the beauty
When you have time and want here I'm and I can give you tips on Italy....if you are around Venetian I will be glad to introduce you on the East of Italy

It's unlikely at this point in my life but nice to know I'd have your expertise if it did happen again. In the early 2000's I spent some time in Cinque Terre, Venice, and Florence. We drove to Turin from Chamonix France and took a train to Nice/Cinque Terre. Magnifico! We loved Cinque Terre so much we canceled a planned visit to Roma to enjoy the slow life there a few more days. Venice and Florence were as special for different reasons. As I said, it was a highlight of my life

Monica and I this afternoon we took a ride in the churches on the left bank of river Adige.
The initiative, work of volunteers, keeps open huge cultural interest Churches often closed due to lack of staff.
The light was little to photograph the interior, so I chose to show the Roman theater, overlooking the Adige, from the steps of the church of Santa Libera and San Siro builted inside the theater on a site of a Roman temple
The panoramic view in four pictures

This is the only time in the year in which there is no seats on the steps and no stage to cover the vision of the river

Today day trip to Modena to see the photo exhibition of photographer Robert Rive, who worked in Italy between 1860 and 1880. He had a studio in Naples from which he moved to photograph the places of the Italian Grand Tour.
Was recently discovered one of his album of views of the main Italian cities and historical monuments that has been put on display in Modena Photography.

Waiting for the opening we took the opportunity to visit the Cathedral of Modena, dedicated to San Gimignano.

It is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Italy

Daniele, Fantastic! Looks like you had a fun time. Also great felt hat weather!
Thanks Steve. It was a beautiful day in the frozen plains.
Modena has an interesting University Foundation dedicated to photography
The Stetson was right for the day

I do love your photographs of Italy Daniele. This set is a real treat.
Thanks Red. I really love Italy considered minor for tourist interest.
I live in a town, Verona, that throughout the year is full of tourists, very iconic and often think tourists, guided by tourist operators often superficially, see very quickly and without explanation places like Venice, Florence, Rome and others, that preclude them a chance visit "hidden" gems.
I always suggest to see Italy by following clearly defined themes also going places that mass tourism ignores.

Overnight lows in the 40's makes for a foggy morning & underexposure when photographing a black hat, in this case my Akubra Woomera.

Inside the main gate I decided to make some tailgate coffee while I wait on my dog to earn her breakfast. My hands must have gotten dusty from opening the gate. Sorry for the fingerprints on the hat.

Such a treat Daniele, I don't know how I missed this wonderful set of photos when you posted originally. Will you be my tour guide when I finally make it to my ancestral homeland?
