Fedora infos wanted - U.S. Line by May(s)er

Stoneface

New in Town
I need some infos about a fedora that was found again in the attic.
As far as I know my friends brother bought it ten years or more ago in the USA

The hat is made from wool, the hatband is leather and the label says it`s made in the USA.
The logo printed inside says U.S. LINE BY MAYSER but on the sweatband you can read U.S. LINE BY MAYER.
Looks like the writing is chipped off because only the last three letters are left in gold while the others are white.

Pictures are in 1152x768 so I only posted the links.

Is it a fedora made by a US subsidiary of the german company Mayser?
Or is it a cheap knock-off (see the obvious MAYER MAYSER misspelling)?
Maybe a US company that share the same name?

Any informations are appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Very interesting. I think you might be right about the cheap knock-off. I do know Mayser uses some outside production souces but they are in Slovenia and Poland. I am checking with an Mayser source of mine so I will let you know if I find out anything.

The hat looks to be made of wool. Judging by the printing on the sweatband, the hat was probably made by Bollman as they produce most of the wool licensing items for the USA.
I've never seen one of them before.
