Last evening a 1940s Peacoat popped up on my local marketplace feed. I asked for the measurements and they were exactly what I hoped (my size) so I picked it up for $80 . It is in near mint condition and feels luxurious. I have owned jackets from Iron Heart, Rogue Territory, L.L. Bean, Ralph Lauren, and many many outdoor companies, Filson, etc. and this is the most luxurious and warm jacket that I have ever worn.
I cannot believe how inexpensive a jacket of this quality is and why more people are not searching for them and driving the prices up. Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad that the prices did not drive up before I bought mine, but I’m just curious because they are so nice.
