Daniel and I would listen and dance every time to this one.
There are many versions of The Jive dance, this one is a great favourite of ours, mostly because jiving is associated with a fast tempo, slow it down and you get plenty of room on the dance floor. Can you name the tune?

A 1970s song I like:

This cover by the Damned is still a live favourite; they certainly do it justice. (Not to mention that it's hilarious watching a certain type of older fan suddenly catch on to what the English lyrics are about!). If memory serves, the Elton Morello original of this came out in Octoberish of 77; a few months later, the label used exactly the same musicians / backing track with new, nonsensical French lyrics to record a version later attrbuted to Plastic Bertrand:

It is my ambition to one day manage to commit the French lyrics to memory and karaoke the hoohah out of it...

Grace Slick, "White Rabbit" 1967 Jefferson Airplane

Scene: Lemont Quarry, Lemont, IL deserted Sunday morning. White Rabbit comes on over the water from trailers parked along the quarry rim. Absolutely haunting voice - I remember it oh so clearly.

Backstory: The quarry was abandoned and used by recreational divers for check-outs and general diving. It was cold and dark... typical midwestern dive site. Story was that the Chicago mob dumped their bodies in the trunk of cars that were sunk in the quarry. Insurance requirements killed the diving and locked the gates.

This is not exactly a favourite, you could say that it's grown on us over the years. The DJ at our wedding thought it a romantic, poignant song. We were expected to dance to it, not easy for two trained dancers when the song is definitely not dance music. But perhaps the DJ was clairvoyant, he could hardly have known back in 1968 that we will play this on Monday, locked up, under house arrest, celebrating 52 years since that wedding day on May, 4th 1968.

I have a playlist on my phone of which I can give some samples (in 2 posts). These songs (this music playlist) help support me emotionally.
