I have to say, Frank Sinatra's In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning is my absolute favorite Sinatra CD.

What about you?

Well, my favorite Sinatra album I only have on a group of old cassette tapes, recorded by a friend years ago off vinyl albums. It's a 3 album set of all 81 songs he recorded with Tommy Dorsey in 1941. A lot of people who are not familiar with Sinatra's early work are shocked to hear it. They often don't even recognize it, because his voice is so much higher and lighter.
But this is Frank before years of dissipation lowered his voice about 6 octaves.
The lyricism of those early Dorsey arrangements can't be beat. And when you hear TD''s elegant and mellow trombone solos, you quickly recognize how much Sinatra learned from this great instrumentalist and band leader.
Delicious stuff.

Oh, I agree - his voice is so different in later years. I love the Dorsey stuff, too. I think I have some of those on some of my compilations.

I'd really like to get his The Capitol Years CD's. I think I loved his voice the best during that time.

Sinatra At The Sands

For me it will always be Sinatra At The Sands. Frank Sinatra with Count Basie and his Orchestra recorded live in 1966. I've been listening to this album for as long as I remember. I've had it on LP record, CD, and Digital. In fact It's in my music player rotation right now.

Classic Sinatra: His Greatest Performances 1953-1960 [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]

I love this one. Arragements by Nelson Riddle and great selection of songs.

The Essential Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.
This is a great two disc set from recordings when swing was the thing. As a matter of fact I think I'll mix a drink and pop it in the stereo right now.

Being an avid Sinatra collector, I can say that Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely is his voice at its prime.

Can't really choose one, but the first that comes to mind is The Complete Capitol Singles Collection. However, Songs for Swingin' Lovers is great, and for the late-night ballads, No One Cares, which isn't often mentioned. Frank's rendition of "A Cottage for Sale" is fine melancholy, indeed.

Nice thread,
I don't own a cd or lp of "ol blue eyes"
but maybe I get some inspiration over here, because I do love his voice,
I only never taught of buying one of his records [huh]

I have Sinatra - Nothing but the Best, and I listen to this CD on a regular basis. Ol' blue eyes singing often fills the empty loading bay at work, giving the big block building a touch of class.
