classic sports car, once owned by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, has been sold for a record price for the model of vehicle. The 1935 two-seater Pescara Spyder, one of only 60 made, attracted just a few bids when it went under the hammer in Cheltenham in February.

The best offer reached just over half the expected £800,000 and the owner chose not to sell at the time.

A private buyer has now bought it for £550,000, H&H Classic Auctions said.

It's hard to choose, but my favorites are the vehicles from the 20s-30s. Like the one my Grandparents once owned, a 34 Plymouth:

My two favorites have to be the
1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Jonckheere Coupe

And the 1937 Hartmann V-16 Cadillac
it looks like a Figoni but it isnt.
Then: a grand Coachbuilt Cadillac

Now: an overly cromed and overdone mess

For my hunting or fishing trips: 1949 Ford F1 - No streetrodding crap here. A real working truck.

For fun on the flats? A roadster powered by a Buick Nailhead.

1957 Chevy of course. My grandad had one he bought new in 1957. It was the oddest green color. I have never seen another one that color. Like a green between a lunar moth and army green. I loved that car and him.

That color was called Laurel Green. It was used on both 1956 and 1957 Chevrolets.

My uncle had a '57 Chevy Bel Air Sedan in Surf Green which was a light seafoam green...nice car!

Afraid not at the moment, a con-rod decided to part company with its small end bearing.

However, I had talked about an Engine re-build for a long time, so it played my hand.

It is undergoing a full rebuild, and will appear in a few months with Sprite spec engine, and hopefully a new axle ratio as well. I plan to do some good long distance touring with it when its done!

Kindest Regards

Ben

Sorry to hear that Ben. But it might be a blessing in disguise, sounds as if the new engine will be much better. Probably give you a bit more oomph as well which never hurts.

I've only gone through about half this thread, but this has been my dream car for about 5 years:

Your dream car is one of mine. Good find on that picture. Its a great example fo the breed.
The only problem I have with them is the Rube Goldbergian electrical system that they use. Sure, I love to the the battery in the car with me under the dash so it can eat through the carpets. :eusa_doh: :p

Get Cali DOJ to sign off and BATF&E to sign off on you owning four transferable MG's, and I'll see what I can do...:p

Oil slicks, though, are comparatively easy--I'll just lift the designs some KITT-replica builders use.:D

Of course, in your case, all of this'll cost ya... (sorry, I only work for free for very good friends, or pretty ladies.lol )
