This morning we got word that the matriarch of Hubby's family slipped away from us, and joined her beloved on the other side. We are especially heartbroken as she was our Lily's namesake. A lovely woman her entire life. We will greatly miss her.

A beautiful image that brings to mind the wonderful times that I shared with my grandma
when I was Lily’s age. Although the face of the lady is different, the look of love in her eyes
and warm embrace is the same as my grandma's.

I have a few seconds of video of Lily with Hubby's grandma last summer, and a few seconds of her with my grannie when Lily was a toddler. Precious memories for Lily!

I was just telling Hubby that grandmas are magical creatures. They are able to love unconditionally in a very intense and intimate way that our parents can't. It is as though being a generation removed allows them to be able to see and give what we really need from them. I am so glad that he has such great memories of her. She was spunky, tough, sweet, strong, loving, caring, and wonderful. <3

Now you got me misty-eyed.
Remembering on occasions my grandma bringing me breakfast in a tray when
I woke up in the morning.
I wasn’t sick. It wasn’t a regular thing she did. And I was never a spoiled brat.
But nevertheless she did it.
I can still recall her voice telling the others,
“ I love my junior because he listens to me & minds what I say.”
The others being my cousins & sisters .

Well perhaps...I may have been spoiled just a tad. But I never complained.
When she gave me a glass of milk, I would ask her to put a spoon of honey
to make it sweet..."just like you grandma!” I would tell her.
She’d smile & put some of her home-made honey.

Such wonderful memories that still burn bright.

Babydoll, my sincere sympathies. It is nice that her name lives on in your daughter and her memory will clearly live on in the family and, I'm sure, many others that she touched in her life.

It goes by very, very fast. My oldest is in third grade (her fourth year teaching third grade that is).
