A rare colour shot of my maternal grandmother, Maggie (Margaret - digging those shades...) with my cousins Scott and Morag. Scott is the wee bairn above in the white frilly outfit with Aunt Nettie, I think this is Morag's first appearance. Haven't seen Scott in years, but am still in regular touch with Morag, though she's on Vancouver Island.

This may be at the Toronto Zoo, the badges or stickers say "Purr something", but I can't really tell, probably 1962 shortly before my gran's death:

He wrote of his experiences once he was home. I have a copy of it, and it took me years to work up the nerve to read what he'd gone through. He was sick a lot, hungry always, but he had the presence of mind to do what he could to grow/gather/barter for food or supplies to take care of himself and his men so they could make it home.

Babydoll, what an amazing document to have. I only know bits and pieces about my great uncles' service in the war - they didn't like to talk about it.

Grandmum on the right, cousin Scott is the lad, some of the same friends.

I grew up with that painting in our living room, I wish I knew what happened to it. Also, my dad wasn't on the scene yet, but he smoked Rothmans until he was 80 when he gave up cold turkey:

These are quite unique ;
These were taken during WWII in the camp that my grandfather was in.
Just outside of Berlin. He was there from the beginning of 1943 until just after the the end of the war in 1945.
He's the guy in the top row on the left.

I was in Berlin last september, tried to locate where this picture was taken, but it's long gone.

Same granddad, at home.

Then, my grandparents and myself at the Belgian coast.
Can you tell we where very close?

This is one of the few pictures of my mom's side (German) family.
Left, my mom and her brother and sister.
My mother is the one holding the doll.
The middle is my great grandma and the right is my other uncle.
