Ok, so I got suckered earlier and figured I'd share so we could all laugh together.
Couple friends of mine have recently started dating. Both she and he have been part of my social circle just not with each other. They met earlier in the year and have really hit it off. This leads to the issue. I find whenever people in a new relationship are happy, they want everyone around them to be in a happy relationship. Bet you can guess where this is going, huh?
So after being harassed mercilessly for the last few weeks I finally gave in and let them put a profile up on a dating site for me. (No I will not say which.) So she wrote the profile with input (interrogated from me) while he sat back, laughed and drank my beer. Right, so now she's happy because this could lead to me being happy, he's happy because he doesn't have to hear about it anymore...I however...less than happy.
Soooo...I decided I'd make an end around. If for no other reason than my own amusement.
I browsed through many,many profiles to see just what it was women want in a guy. I'm obviously not it as I'm single, but hey...let's do research. What I've come up with: "Real Man and "Nice Guy". Every single profile has those two in there somewhere. So, I re-wrote my profile. I started off by asking a simple question to the ladies, what exactly is their definition of those terms? I then explained from a male point of view what I extracted from said profiles what it sounded like to me. Finally I explained what sort of guy I am...being both real and nice(ish) to show the difference.
So here's what I wanna know from you folks: One, how bad is my friend going to beat me? And two, do you actually think I'll get any responses?

You think girls you meet in person are bat s*&% crazy, try meeting one from a dating website. It's fun. One will probably have a lot of cats and bad smells in the appartment she shares with her ex. It's hard to say for surtain of course and I don't wanna sound like Debbie Downer, but keep your expectations low. Like, very low.

There's nothing wrong with dating sites. A few of my friends used them and are happily married now. Sure they have a lot of nut job stories, but it worked out in the end. You never know.

I know I sound like a prude here, but you might try a local Church to see what's there. Yeah they have crazy girls too, but you might find a straight one.
I met my wife online, on a religious website. We shared a lot of the same views, similar tastes in movies, music, etc. And LSS, we've been married 9yrs.

Thanks for the advice Gregg, but I don't intend to meet anyone. I'm not particularly looking for a relationship so no, I won't be giving them a blood sample, social secuirty number, or go through a dark ritual to give them my soul (wedding?).

Hi, one of the guys I used to work with back in the 1980's swore by picking up chicks at church. There were always hoards of older women who would work on setting him up with any and all unmarried girls from that church. To quote, "They're church girls, they don't smoke, don't drink much, so they only have one vice..." Haven't seen him in YEARS, I'd love to know how that turned out.
