I do all kinds of artwork. The last several years I've done hand drawn stained deep relief engravings on wood. Here's a couple samples..

Now that you mention it, I do see your point.

I thought this might be somewhat interesting to some. I draw the subject on the wood plaque or oar...then use a dremel with different sized bits to relieve the background a little at a time adding depth. Then shape the objects from back to front. At last comes the fun part for me of detailing the fine features to make it look as realistic as possible. Adding the different stains and highlights as finishing touches. Then a poly finish for completion. Time consuming..but I enjoy learning as I go..and hopefully achieving better results with each project.

I've been doing artwork since I was a child,rue.
I started this engraving style somewhat(on occassion) in the late '80s..but refined it beginning in 1999 when I retired from real work. Then I was freed up to really enjoy it in my little studio.
