And those darker imported beers probably were much less hoppy.I think I started drinking Millers but after having some popular brand name import beer (dark beers) I discovered a entire new world of flavor all of it's own and could not even pick up a Millers to drink again after that!
If you haven't been drinking for a bit, you have probably missed the current "hoppier is better" theme that is especially prevalent on the west coast.
I have even tasted some imports aimed at the U.S. market that have completely ruined (IMO) the flavour profile by trying to make the beer hoppy. Like hoppy German hefeweizens or hoppy Belgian beers.
