Etsy Prices on Fedoras Getting Expensive?

Hi Folks

Is it just me or are the prices on Etsy for fedoras getting a bit expensive?

Six weeks ago, I was buying Cavanagh's in mint condition for $40-$50 Now Cav's and Stetsons are priced over $95-$100.00

Anyway it just seems like the prices for a decent vintage fedora have gone up.

TIA

Best regards
CCJ

It is called greed. I did buy a Dobbs West Fedora for $33 never worn in the box from an Etsy store couple of weeks ago. It looks like fur felt. I haven't seen it yet since it was shipped to a different state by mistake. The true fedoras I liked were $150

I agree, online deals are getting hard to find. I find all my hats from antique stores and craigslist. I have purchased Dobbs, cavanaughs, and borsalinos, for under $30. I am on a mission to never pay over this amount. I will probably exceed this amount sooner or later but it is fun trying to be frugal.

Actually I seem to find the prices on etsy for almost anything remotely nice, very over priced. To date, there have been no sales to my household from there, yet!

Like everything else, the price is set by what someone will pay. If too high, it will be unsold.
Why would someone sell something at a low price (except for Loungers to friends here, maybe) when the item is worth more?

I have not been tracking ebay prices annually in this category.
What I have a observed is , brands w/o a big fan following are fair. In contrast brands like Stetson, Borsolino or Flechet have high reserves. It seems to me, folks are collecting their favorite Brand and Style like others collect years and coins. In addition, most are putting high reserves on their hats and they are being relisted.

It's about that time of year where everyone is starting to raise prices for the holidays. Gone are the days of deals at the holidays as even the small businessman/woman needs to get gifts for their families.

Greetings to everyone

I have looked on Etsy for a time, and agree that they are trying to sell hats that are far from being what I would consider nice to great condition, for the price of such. I basically don't look there much anymore, as I figured I wouldn't be buying anything anytime soon.
