Some information on the Elgin wristwatch that started this thread. The movement is 0 size and dates from about 1908. It started as a woman's pendant watch that they wore on watch pins or on very long watch chains around the neck. Many of these movements were recased for men's wristwatches in the 1920s through the 1940s. The fact that this watch has holes for springbars to hold the strap most likely dates it from the late 1920s to the 1940s. The style of the case and the winding crown suggests to me that the case dates in the middle or late part of that period.
