I hope this does not violate policy as I have not provided a link (and have no connection to the seller).

There might, on a well-known auction site, be a 1930s tailcoat made by Eddie Schmidt, Jr., son of Hollywood's tailor (slightly confusing, since it is dated before Eddie Schmidt's death--or was the father also Jr.?)--who is not mentioned in title.

This seemed unusual enough to demand a post.

Is it the one made for Adolphe Menjou? It appeared on eBay recently, but the opening bid price was apparently too high, so no sale.

Eddie Schmidt was killed in 1937, so it was probably made under his aegis. Son Eddie Schmidt, Jr. (not his birth name, by the way) is still alive and in his 90s, but is not at all pleasant, I've been told.

Do note that neither Eddie Schmidt nor his son were tailors per se, nor were they trained as such; they were self-invented "stylists". The father was excellent at this, by the way. Later on, even his daughter tried her hand at it.

Interesting! I'd love to hear more about this tailcoat. Could you tell us more? Thanks, Preenname!

And if you'd like any more information about Eddie Schmidt (both father and son), I'd be happy to oblige. About a year ago, I was considering writing a book about the father.
