Ebay ripoff dude?

Ok, this guy is getting my ire up.
I wont his auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...90009880358&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1 and this is what I get when I request a total due:

I am looking for more money, the hat is like brand new and has never been worn.
I thought i had to price it small so people could bid until i thought it was good.
If you want to work something out and give me more money great, if not OK.
Write back
:rage: :rage: :rage: :rage:

I thought what kind of garbage is this!? So I just emailed the nutcase and told him that he should have placed a reserve on the hat then!
What's worse is he wants me to pay more and then go and pick it up because he doesn't ship! Duh! That is why the winning price was low. I have to arrange for someone to get it and then ship it to me. :eusa_doh: If another lounger bid on this thing with me, thank God you didn't win. :fing28:
This guy is going down if he doesn't abide by the deal is all I can say. :rage:

Regards,

J

Lets blast him with FL members emails

To all who read, Click the link to the listing and click "ask seller a question". I just did and sent him this:

"Words getting around the you don't honor your auctions. I suggest filling your orders to winning bidders."

Let's put some pressure on him guys!

What the heck??!!
You had better straighten him out but quick on how to auction his product!!
That hat is yours at that price and no more. If he does not want to ship I would show up there and "close the deal". ;)

Good tip fedorastore. I will do the same.

I was watching that chucklehead. "Local pickup only, no shipping" struck me at first, for goodness' sake, it's a hat, not a Diesel generator! No feedback, OK, we all have to start somewhere, but he went from zero to a half dozen auctions . When I'm new at something, I start slow.

And now this? Tell him he sends the hat, or get gets nailed. One chance only.

Sorry, James, I saw you had "won" this and immediately had a bad feeling.

To be fair, if you look at what his profile, it says he's never sold anything on ebay before, so perhaps he doesn't understand how things are supposed to work. Nevertheless, somebody should straighten that guy out and tell him that the final price is the one he has to accept, and that he has to provide shipping of some kind. -Mulceber

JP, I know that is annoying, but you may want to take it easy on the guy, at least initially. According to his profile it is his first auction, and he may not really understand how it works. Just to be a devil's advocate (so to speak!) he may be elderly and trying to raise some money, and may not be particularly computer literate.

I do think he should honor the auction, but if he is a scam artist it won't make any difference if you give him a more restrained response, and you will still have options to report him to e-bay. I just hate to see him get both barrels if he really doesn't understand the process. Just my .02.

I just sent him this message:

I understand you're refusing to sell to someone who won this auction, because you want more money. This is against ebay rules, and -- I believe -- the law: you are BREAKING A CONTRACT. I suggest you honor your obligations. (Once this is reported to ebay, you are likely to be banned from selling.)

Do NOT back down.

Just read Mojave's post, and yes -- perhaps that is reasonable. Luckily you have us to empty both barrels on your behalf.

Done. This is really poor. I agree with prior post, he needs to be reported to eBay as well--they should make him stand behind his auction, just as they would expect a bidder to pay up for a winning bid.

I would be fair too.
I would offer him whatever he wants for the hat and I will offer to pick it up. now give me your address dope.. I would show up, plunk down $36 bucks and take my hat. I will gladly give him a lesson in auctioning if necessary. ;)

Hey, Mulceber! We must have been posting at the same time! Glad to see I'm not the only soft-hearted sucker out here!

Quite a coincidence, huh? I agree, its best not to "give him both barrels" until we know this guy's circumstances. -Mulceber

Hello all!

I'm new here as a member, but have been enjoing FL for some time now.

I hve to say in the Seller's defense, he did state "no shipping" on the auction - twice:

"Shipping costs: Pickup only - see item description for details
Ships to: Will arrange for local pickup only (no shipping). "

Now I agree that shipping is no big deal. But, that was a condition of the auction. It might have been better if you emailed him with something like "hey, if I win this, will you UPS it to me for $20.00?"

But there is no excuse for him wanting a higher price.

As noted above, this guy's ebay score is 0. One should always be cautious dealing with neophyte sellers.

A red flag should have been that this guy is just off the pickle boats with ZERO feedback. He's never bought or sold anything on Ebay! Unless it is a vehicle no body does NOT ship and has pick up only. Too hokey!! And at the price of gas it wouldn't be worth my while to drive out there from where I live near L.A either. Shipping would be chaeper!

But the thing IS, when you sign up for an account with Ebay, you're agreeing to that already. They specifically point out in an auction without a reserve price, you may get virtually nothing and have to follow through with the deal.

I, too, PM'ed him and told him the sale's a legally binding contract, and at best, failure to send the hat is going to get him banned from Ebay, at worst, a breach of contract action.
