The auction's back up with corrections. The seller mis-listed it as a 7-1/2. It's a 7-1/4 if you look at the size tag.

Yours truly caught that one and contacted the Seller. Seller never responded to me, but apparently has corrected the situation. A modest honorarium from any Lounge winner (size 7 1/4) would be gratefully accepted and applied to a round of libation...:D

Cheers,
JtL

Haha - well, she offered to sell it to me when I mentioned that I had a snipe in.

Well, alright, then. I guess I can quit grumbling. At least I didn't really miss a steal.

So, who made 100s? Here are the ones I've either seen or read about here:

Stetson
Resistol
Cavanagh
Knox
Dobbs

Any others?

After JtL's Dobbs 100 win, I posed the question above. Examples of the Stetson 100 are all over the Lounge, there are a couple of Cav 100s, JtL's got the one Dobbs, and I'm not sure about the Resistol. I found one photo of the Knox 100 (sorry, no shots of the sweat and liner), and then discovered, though without a photo, that there was a Lee 100.

This was a very surprising snipe win. I wanted the Mode Edge for restoration, but figured bidding on the Strat would kill my chances.

These just arrived. Strat is purple and just needed a brushing - other than reed wear, interior was perfect. The other hat is an aqua 'suede finish' 3x with an underwelt (7 3/8). Also, a near-perfect sweatband and nice liner, but it had an ancient porkpie crease that I still haven't gotten out, and needs a new ribbon/bow. Very floppy, comfortable hat.

Both have a crispy clear cover over the liner logo. Both seem to be from about 1950.

Also, both were owned by Dr. E.I. Varvel, a Colorado dentist who passed in 1960.

You certainly were fortunate with this one! I love the aqua - can't wait to see what you do with it!

Thanks CRH, Sue.

CRH - I have two pins, so what the heck!

Sue, I also love the aqua one, but I don't think it's going to turn out all that special - this hat had dirt encrusted in the underwelt and left a layer of dirt on the table after cleaning. It's currently on a full-size wooden stretcher with the top soaked to hopefully get out some of the creasing, but we'll see.

In any event, it is soft and floppy, and feels fantastic on my head, so it's a keeper.
