I was really keen on this one but figured early on that the price was eventually going to be way beyond my meager budget. Three figures are just too much for me to handle at this time. In fact, I think I'll have to stop buying new hats for some time to come. There are just too many other things revolving around me as it is.

Many of us go through this, if we've got any sense. I've said it before, but when the time comes to stop the spending frenzy for a while it allows one to start to really get to know the hats one has. Savor it, and be glad you have that conscience to nag you into paying attention to life's more mundane responsibilities so that the credit doesn't get wrecked.

There will be more. If you would like to rationalize, think of it this way - those with 7 1/2 and bigger head sizes have to pay three figures for much less hat than the ones you get for $30-40, and they don't have near the selection to choose from that you do.

We can only wonder what this one would have gone for...if someone hadn't convinced her to end the auction early. I did let her know what my snipe was, just so she could experience a small amount of post-decision cognitive dissonance.

Shoo no.. You probably saw the newb here (that'd be me), just did my very first re-bash with sure-enough steam, and no training wheels. hehehehe.. That Borso' would have scared the pants off of me. Although I'm getting some knowledge I guess.. A block, some ironing on that brim (poor-man's flange), and some TLC and there ya go.
