That is a really nice looking Whippit, RS. I'd be interested in seeing some daylight pics of that one. Very nice.

The Brock arrived today, and as I suspected (and hoped), it's as close to a Playboy duplicate as I can imagine. Olive-green with a wonderful and imaginative ribbon, soft and floppy.

Very nice Scott. That is a really nice shade of green; I like the crease you gave it and the mid-ribbon. I am curious as to why some hats have that long stitch thread holding the ribbon on the outside though. One of mine has that and it seems messy or slapdash compared to the rest of the work put into a hat.

Thanks Mr. P - I was wondering the same thing about that stitch thread. This one really sticks out - moreso than in the pics.

You may have a late 1930's hat. I have a number of hats with such ribbon stitching and they all are likely to date from that period. And they are high quality hats(Borsalino,Dobbs, etc).

Thanks for the info. Here's the union tag - I can't remember the significance of using these for dating hats, and can't find the info here in the lounge.

Anyone have an idea as to the dating??

Herzen, That hat looks darn near identical to the one I just won. I've been told probably '60's. Just maybe late '50's. I could see it with these hats.. They look like they could be put together nicely with a fairly skinny lapel suit and a skinny late '50's, pre-hipster '60's tie. Or brim up with a saxophone, goatie, a smokey bar and a good rhythm section. :)

Just for reference, as mine is still in the mail, how do you like the felt / construction, etc??

By the way.. That 3X Stetson brim up is a VERY cool hat on you. You're a big guy like me.. I get the impression Homburg's and similar bashed thick chunky feds are the ticket for us manly types.

I'm pretty impressed, actually. It seems a nice, well built hat. Plus it is flawless. If it weren't for the initials in the sweat I'd swear it was never worn. Still surprised I was the only bidder.

I snagged this one today. It looks a heck of a lot like the one Rumblefish snagged recently. I hope it's as nice as his.

There are various degrees of Whippitude. This is top tier all the way. Absolutely beautiful. Congrats, Bob! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Cheers,
