Now we're talking, Max! That looks like an incredibly fine weave. Congrats.

So, if the green match is in a horizontal orientation on the ribbon, we’re ok?! I would think yes, especially according to jury of your peers. The Drunk Hare Hat Co. “The Tracker” made by Greeley Hat Works.

I’m guessing there’s a 25% chance it will fit.
A nice olive Berteil lid, guessing circa 40s? Seller also had a lovely brown french hat but I missed out.

Congrats on that one. Wayne. I know a member here that was eyeballing that one as well. Supposedly the seller wouldn't ship outside of France though. You got it for a steal too!A nice olive Berteil lid, guessing circa 40s? Seller also had a lovely brown french hat but I missed out.

Just bought and received this fine Kevin McAndrew 7 1/4 5x beaver homburg in a medium gray in great condition for $60 plus shipping on eBay. I found a tag under the sweatband that, according to info I found, corresponds to a manufacturing date of late 1940s to early 1950s.

Looks like a solid 60s hat to me.

Everything I’m seeing looks 1960s…maybe early ‘70s?
The name Kevin McAndrew was first trade marked by Byer-Rolnick Hat Co. in 1961-62. The Kevin McAndrew name was first used in 1949, but that wasn’t for hats, it was for “Transport; packaging and storage of goods; travel arrangement.” The 1961 filing was for “men’s hats.”
Black sweatband like that almost always suggests sixties or later to me. Still a nice hat and price—congrats!https://www.ebay.com/itm/225386506949?hash=item347a152ac5:g:EbUAAOSwM3Rj17Ok&amdata=enc:AQAIAAAAwKWMHss8KP7fNYAiiYVOwFY7BrAzC+em2iisEc8ImWd3Xz1VREUPhr+foUEBIX80H5S0FeGc5PMk1+au5UzSfXEzR45MJYUdZThP6HFag3l6hXwEs+5O0fBLLwTsdRDYpJNFeNio1t2HAnDss22UL0wgqHNSqFkCP1zH7F7vN1H5vWNm45dJXnU3E/0iIvJg2Jg3Zkrae8Ze1iePTR95TrlwbvRFkCgIWOKpLnZFiu0bijCXVyzq1iwfC7zc9l3S0A==|tkp:Bk9SR9icu-v1YQ&nma=true&si=HHmKKNlks9PP%2FLIruDJ4dUna7ck%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
I give these guys some credebility as I’ve looked at their other listings and believe they’re quite accurate about dating. As you can see in the photos, they look like virtually the same tag, just a different skew. There were a couple hats I saw on the fedora lounge and vintage-haberdashers that claimed to be around 60s that had a similar lining, but no other photos of tags or such. With these pieces of info I came up with that date. I haven’t seen other posts or listings actually showing interior tags like this one on eBay, and because the lining on these hats seemed to stay pretty consistent over a couple decades it would be hard to pinpoint a specific time, so I thought because it matched with the eBay hat I could make that claim. However, I suppose it is based more off of here-say now that I think about it, and certainly could be later as you said. Please correct me if I’m wrong, and thanks for the input.

In case you don’t know, this ebay seller is known as “Dad’s Hats” collection or words to that effect. He has a long and dubious, at best, reputation here for many reasons, well earned. Caution is advised believing most of what is presented.https://www.ebay.com/itm/225386506949?hash=item347a152ac5:g:EbUAAOSwM3Rj17Ok&amdata=enc:AQAIAAAAwKWMHss8KP7fNYAiiYVOwFY7BrAzC+em2iisEc8ImWd3Xz1VREUPhr+foUEBIX80H5S0FeGc5PMk1+au5UzSfXEzR45MJYUdZThP6HFag3l6hXwEs+5O0fBLLwTsdRDYpJNFeNio1t2HAnDss22UL0wgqHNSqFkCP1zH7F7vN1H5vWNm45dJXnU3E/0iIvJg2Jg3Zkrae8Ze1iePTR95TrlwbvRFkCgIWOKpLnZFiu0bijCXVyzq1iwfC7zc9l3S0A==|tkp:Bk9SR9icu-v1YQ&nma=true&si=HHmKKNlks9PP%2FLIruDJ4dUna7ck%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Gentlemen, thank you for the clarifications. It’s good to know an accurate date range. Also, thanks for providing the history on Kevin McAndrew hats, Brent! I’m surprised you have that information on hand, I couldn’t find much when I looked up the company myself.
Brian
Sorry, but most of us wouldn't trust "Dad" any farther than we could throw him. Which wouldn't be far because he doesn't exist. Caveat emptor.
It's a decent hat, but it's a 60s hat. Those sorts of tags didn't come about in the 50s.
Regardless, enjoy your new hat. And post headshots!

Ps: Fruno beat me to it. Lol
Yikes, I had no clue that this guy was a scam artist, or at least dishonest. Good to know for possible future purchases—although I probably wouldn‘t have purchased anything from him to begin with given his very high prices!I’ll confess that I bought one hat from that eBay seller. He’s very dishonest in his listings and doesn’t care that some of us know. I knew he was full of it, and he stated the hat was older than it was, but I knew what it was and we eventually made a decent deal for us both. I avoid him now not only for the completely made up provenance, but his prices are often above market price. His dating of hats is often off and it’s always older than they actually are.
In any case, your hat is very nice. Most of the Byer-Rolnick hats are quite nice.
Yow! I can’t vouch for how rare or old it is, but that’s an outrageous price for a basic black Stetson like that. I wonder what our experienced hat enthusiasts have to say about its true value.
