It’s good to have friends looking out for you.
Very true. I came for the hats, but I’ve stayed for the people.

True for me. And you are one of them, my friend.Very true. I came for the hats, but I’ve stayed for the people.
Max, Great find! Possibly early to mid 1950s. Hard to see but "Echter Mayser" is on the sweatband. Needs some cleaning and steaming and should be good to go.I've wanted an older Mayser for a while. The seller says it's from c. 1940. Plus it's Antilope. Plus the seller sent me an offer, and he accepted even less. Couldn't resist.
What do you think, @steur and @mayserwegener ? View attachment 295689 View attachment 295690 View attachment 295691 View attachment 295692 View attachment 295693 View attachment 295694 View attachment 295695 View attachment 295696 View attachment 295697 View attachment 295698

We'll keep you hooked, Brent. Great Knox.I came out of the Tatton Baird Hat shop and saw that I had two messages: a PM from Max @drmaxtejeda and an email from Randall @Randall Renshaw and both of these fine men sent me a link to this hat...and now it’s mine! Thank you so much, Max and Randall.

Can't go wrong with an Echter Mayser antilope finish, Max. Good score!I've wanted an older Mayser for a while. The seller says it's from c. 1940. Plus it's Antilope. Plus the seller sent me an offer, and he accepted even less. Couldn't resist.

Am I missing something here? It doesn't even say "Whippet" on it.
Maybe tossing "Yellowstone" in there will attract a buyer. The most valuable part of these hats (the USNPS leather hat band) is nowhere to be found.

Jellystone?
Found this listing. A bit of a stretch for truth-in-advertising! Purports to be a Model 1875 campaign hat (there isn't such a designation, as far as I know. It was model 1872 and then 1876, 1883, 1889, etc)
In any case, a fairly decent 1950s Stetson but hardly the Indian Wars original the seller insists this is. I'm waiting for the 'private purchase' retort! Yours for the princely sum of $979!
